The idea would be for the A400 Grizzly (as australia is looking at them as well to replace the J's) and get the C-27 Spartan as it would give us back what we lost with the Andovers.
Main reason is both Aircraft provide more capacity and the Grizzly is designed to carry the NH-90.
C-17's would be nice but as highlighted else where to expensive for this country. Unless they were bought to replace the 757's.
Mix I think would be 2 x C-17's, 4 x A400's and 4 x C-27's This would of course be in line with Australia which really is just common sense.
With the benifits being by the time we would get the above aircraft Australia would have had them in service for a couple plus years and we would gain from there experience which in turn would make a faster entry into service.

TARANAKI LOST ONE OF IT'S GREAT AVIATORS A FEW WEEKS AGO BRETT CUDBY Due to a tragic accident in pursuit of his Hobby RC and Full size Aviator a real Gentleman taken far to early. From one of the Heli Boards. Fly Always mate. His Wake had a very generous portion of warm laughter- remembering Brett. Besides a large contingent from the local club- there were fliers from all over the North Island. In the chapel on display were several of his helis- plus a good selection of his planes- including his stunning Corsair. Our good friend Colin P. got up and listed the names of people around the world who had been in touch with him in the past week- all passing along their support to Bretts' family and friends. It was an impressively long list- filled with many names that us scale boys recognized. The final speakers were from the Taranaki club. They said that just 2 days before he died- Brett was part of the program at a outdoor venue. He flew with his usual flair and skills- and the crowd there really enjoyed what they were watching. Then as the dusk was settling over the field- Brett got out his wee quad rotor that was covered in lights- and flew into the night- until he was all out of batteries. When it was time for Brett to be taken out of the chapel- all of the RC Modelers were invited to form an 'honor guard' from the doors of the chapel to the rear of the hearse. The size of this crowd was very impressive- a fitting farewell Attachments:
