Are u sure thats not just a Luigi Colani design concept. If Pacific Aerospce was to design a new plane it would be cool if they put a jet engine(not a turbo prop) into a CT4 and turned it into a mini Strikemaster. With the optionial wingtip tanks and strikemaster air intakes on the side it would look pretty mean.

Has anyone got any updates for this thread ? I have found that one sabre is at the Classic flyers museum . i noticed one other one in NZ was being used as a advertising gimmick im not sure if that one came from Avspecs and I believe the one that was for sale on trade me belongs to Bill Reid but im not too sure.

The Ladybirds remains were on display at the Invercargill museum for a very long time along with its original propeller. Are there plans for a Southland designed and built aircraft section at Croydon ? Because Bill Barbers (built the microlight snark) first aircraft the H/A.1 along with the Ladybird and the Pither are all now at Croydon. Togeather they make a pretty good tribute to some of the unique aircraft designed in the province.

So does that leave us with just 4 NZ owned Spitfires or is the one at Avspecs still under NZ ownership also ?

The link isnt working for me now either i have saved some of the pics onto my compy but im not too sure how to post them. The best i can suggest is that u go to the pictures properties by right clicking on it find its name and pop that into google and click images and see if it will let u preview the picture. If i find another way around it i will let u know.

people mention the Bob semple tank alot when it comes to arms NZ have made firstly its an American design which they sold a few to Afghanistan govt prior to WW2 the ones built in NZ were copies and used corragated armour instead of the flat armour. A much better tank was designed and built in NZ during WW2 called the Schofield tank truck and shows kiwi inguiety at its best. The Britten superbike and Pacific Aerospace should be proof enough i feel that we are brilliant at design and engineering.

In reply to the TGR Snark question about it flying i will try find the article i read for u but basicly it included Trevor Rogers proclaiming that the UAV was fitted with a 200hp turbocharged injected Jabiru engine (not a deisel one) and flew for an 8 hr indurance. He reckoned he is a friend of Phil Ainsworth from Jabiru and he let him use the engine. Ive found it quite difficult to find and more proof using the internet but Trevor Rogers built and flew 3 Sportcopter helicopters which he planned to manufacture in NZ.

A few have tried in the past to design such platforms .The Addax fighter didnt get past the scaled model stage but the TGR Snark UAV was flown and armed with Sidewinders and even a maverick missile but is now in recievership. Im keen to see Bruce's proposal (can u fit sidewinders on your Avian?) Just kidding . Im sure like WW2 with a forces for anti invasion mentality arming up the Crescos and Airtrainers would provide good cover for a defence. During WW2 every aircraft that the Air Force felt was of use was put into service and there are alot of privately owned jet fighters in NZ.

It would be great if we could make a forum register of aircraft not on the civil register. Then we could all add to it. Some aircraft are hard to find information on when just searching the internet.

It was being built in Auckland. I think he might have been the only Kiwi to have a go at making a Thunderbolt.
