thanks flyernzl. I was wondering how many had been built for some time. Mr J G Mackie must have been quite the engineer.

Hi guys I was wondering if anyone knew any more information on this aircraft. www.gregorie.org/gregories/history/cfs_biplane.htmIt was built during WW1 by the Canterbury Aviation company. Numerous books have mentioned that a number of aircraft were built by the CAC the first being a single seat cauldron built by J.G.Mackie. Does anyone have any pictures or information on these aircraft.

Hi guys While watching to first flight videos of the polikarpov replica i noticed the video for this bleriot XI replica It has curious looking rudder but looks pretty accurate. I wonder if theres a plan to use it to celebrate the centenary of the channel crossing? I've heard of another bleriot project in the Auckland area but i don't have any information on that one. Shane

I've been watching the outbreak with interest since april im quite surprised at how fast its spread . In 6 years bird flu infected only about 400 people and killed nearly half of those that got it. In little more than a month swine flu has spread very fast with 7 countries reporting deaths from it and over 27000 infected. My Fiancee and I are off to Canada soon for a month so I scare her with every new update. But im not too worried thousands of people each year die of the seasonal flu each year. Unfortunately we have no natural immunity to swine flu and theres no vaccine for it. I bet we are going to have soooo much fun at the airports.

I got a voucher for Xmas a wee while ago and Ryan took me up in Tiger ZK-BFH (best present ever). Acrobatics in a tigermoth is something really special, I liked it when your upside down and u look up to see the ground, theres no wing area above you .

I saw the Furio at Warbirds over Wanaka last year it was on static display its a beautiful looking plane. I wasn't fortunite enough to be around when it flew home. The Furio that when to Avalon flew there and back the official website posted updates showing its flightpath.

The MiG 21 at the Wanaka Toy Museum is still there and is viewible from the main road (I was last there at the end of January this year i will post some pics of it when i get the chance). With it being outside u can get better shots of it as opposed to it being cramped inside.

Here is the website for the 3/4 scale FW 190 www.gilles-kupfer.com (at the top of the page is an option to translate it). It looks great in the pictures hopefully one day we might see it dogfight with the 3/4 Mustangs being built around the country. Shane

flyernzl wrote:Certainly looks like someone is confusing the two-seater 'Britannia' with Walsh's single-seater. You are correct the female passenger (Miss Feild) must be just posing in the pilots seat. I guess the trainees must have done their ground training without an instuctor on board. Shane

Hi guys regarding the penguin (ground trainer) i got that info from The History of NZ Aviation by Ross Ewing and Ross McPherson page 39 theres a good pic of the aircraft with a female passenger. Britannia wasnt used as a ground trainer the aircraft that i meant was James Walsh's former aircraft. Sorry for the confusion. Great book by the way. To turn the aircraft into a ground trainer they cut the wing in half or put in a low powered engine so it couldn't fly im not sure what the case was with this example. Thanks Shane
