Hi Dave, I watched the first episode and it was the power consumption (electricity) that was featured. Apparently the UK is the only country in the world that they have to have the electricity grid controller ready for this sort of occasion. When Eastenders finishes, due to the huge demand for power when as you say the old ducks etc put their jugs/kettles on for a cuppa, the guy literally has the telly on tuned to Eastenders to get the timing exactly right. On the episode they even had to get power shunted over from France to meet the power need requirements. If they get the timing wrong, it's lights out.

I think you are right, it is more bronzey. Is there such a colour available that you could do a test patch/comparison with?

Looking at the thread above and comparing the actual aircraft I think it's not too bad, but the aircraft colour when you look at the pics on the thread is a more 'yellowy' gold and a gloss finish. This is more of the traditional 'metallic/shiney gold' colour. Not sure if you can mix up a special batch and experiement? Others more qualified than me in such matters would be able to advise you. Good luck.

Pretty much the damp squib I was expecting focussed on cost cutting and not much else. That is of course from the outside looking in but I doubt that Defence Force Personnel will be going hip-hip-hooray over this White Paper. Perhaps the best that could be expected though?

I predict that this will end up just being about cost cutting/saving money to pay for the Herk/P3/Frigate replacements required over the next 20 years or so. In other words a damp squib, but with the present state of the economy and government budget cutting mindset it would come as no great surprise to me.

That's what they call 'The Vulcan Howl', although at that range, I'd call it the Vulcan Roar myself.

This is kind of cheating, an overshoot rather than a low pass but very very noisy!!! Gives you an idea of what it may have sounded like with the one doing a roll in my post above. From about 30 sec in.....watch the sheep move!!

You cheeky sod. If I was going to have a part it wouldn't be as an extra, it would probably be behind the camera. But that is not going to happen either. Dave - I'm sure that Beagle was referring to trying out as an extra for the Dambusters ;-) You could send PJ the pic of you in MOTATs Lanc. It is great news alright. The film industry in NZ can only go from strength to strength and hopefully the Dambusters will get made in the not too distant future!!

Another big aftershock here this morning at 11:33am.Ii was in the second floor of the English Department building and it was scary for about 10 seconds, including diving under the desk time. Apart from that things carry on as normal here in Ranfurly Shield country. I expect a big media hype up though> Aftershocks are just a fact of life here now and as long as you know what to do then you're fine. It is perfectly safe to live here and come and visit Christchurch - pass it on.

The newsreaders/copywriters on TV3 got a bit carried away on their coverage last night. I'm sure one of them mentioned about the miners being "brought up from the center of the earth".....

Well that's a fine example of 'Reuse' from the 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle' catchphrase.

People forget that by the time the Cold War tensions really kicked in, Clement Atlee was the UK PM, and Eisenhour was dead, replaced by Harry Truman. Dave, I think you are referring to Roosevelt who was the President for most of WWII. he died in April 1945 and was replaced by Truman. He (Truman) didn't even know about the Manhattan Project until he became President. Eisenhower was mainly known as the American General with overall command and responsibility for the D-Day invasion in 1944. He did later run for office in the US and was eventually elected, replacing Harry Truman.
