Re the televising of Reno. I was talking to my sport mad work mates today and mentioned Reno and explained a bit about the world's fastest motor sport but their faces glazed over after aircraft were mentioned. The same happens whenever I mention aviation to an average person or my long suffering wife and kids. I think your average joe see aircraft like buses - they exist as a transport option or as a military tool.
I do remember once when I was a child watching TV on a rainy Saturday afternoon and a filler program came on and it was that year's Reno Air Races! My parents thought I was having a fit. Apparently they used to televise them and they were popular, but since the age of the internet and banal cat videos the attention span has gone along with the sports non core interest. However, thanks to the efforts of Dave and yhe forum members this aviation tragic can get his fix with like minded people.
Great to hear the Full Noise team had such success at a first go. If you look a the finish stats,Graeme was only 6 mph behind the two Mustangs in front of him. Very close.

Very interesting restoration (not to mention challenging ). Of course this can only happen in NZ! Will it be staying there?

Did the Heat 1C list mean Graeme didn't qualify or is that because he had to pull out with engine trouble? Hope he gets another chance to race.

Aussies and Kiwis may be at each other regularly but when push comes to shove we will always back each other. Hope it all comes together for the Full Noise team. Very capable bunch of people. Good Luck!

STOL capability, good payload, multi engine and those big speed brakes. I can see why they would use the 146.

Great to see the Macchi taxi and hopefully fly. Nice looking aircraft. Would be great if a 326 would fly over here. Formation of the two even better.

Beautiful looking aircraft. Good to see it's in safe hands. If it does go to the US then its a bit like ice to Eskimos only the Aussies made it better.

At least you guys aren't going to be stuck with the F-35. I reckon it will get the nickname Dumbo - the (very) occasionally flying white elephant. The Embraer seems like a good choice.

Maybe we need a group excursion to sort this out once and for all.

Speaking of Journos. The UK's Guardian recently published an article about the BBMF's Merlin powered aircraft being grounded after engine issues. Apparently they are "some of the last remaining Second World War aircraft to fly". At least they didn't call the Lanc a Cessna...

Lots of intriguing snippets on Geoff Goodalls directory. If most are true then there are many more aircraft being restored / stored than are known.

Dave I'm still trying to sort my footage out. Have some downtime next week so I'll make a concerted effort. Have 5 ship and solo displays so as soon as they are converted I will post/send them. Right about the snap roll - 360° in 1.5 seconds. Personal favourite is the Foundacion Infante de Orleans 'Super Mosca'. So few aircraft in Republican or Nationalist schemes. From all accounts a difficult aircraft to fly especially on take off and landing (manual hand retraction of landing gear).

Saw that this morning. Even made the news in Australia. Remember seeing the 5 in formation at WOW 98. Really good airshow aircraft - sound and look fantastic. Pity it's just one but it adds to the flavour of another great Kiwi airshow. If you havent ever seen one fly I would recommend it. Like a Gee Bee but scarier.

Just saw this report. Narrows it down to 5000sq km in the southern Indian Ocean. Hopefully there will be some closure for the failies soon.

Camber of the wing is also in the upright. The trailing edge fillet seems that way aswell.
