Doug Brooker's Sptitfire has developed an oil leak. It appears that an oil seal has been crushed on its installation (in the US I think) and being a great British design, requires the whole engine to be almost rebuilt. 50/50 chance next weekend I've heard.
What is it about Masterton and Doug???

Unfortunately I'm unable to get Easter off work this year and, despite very serious intent to resign so that I could get to the show, after some discussion with Miss Rachel I've decided that it would be in my best interest to stay and just miss this show. So disappointingly I'll not only miss Masterton this year, but also the first Omaka since I first attended in 2005. I expect LOTS of pics, regardless of what turns up Pics... I don't think you need to worry about that!!!

It would still need calibrating. My house has a 2.4m stud. The neighbours is 2.7m and my workplace has 5m floors. Does it include the roof? Flat or pitched?
Ummm sorry. Couldn't help it after negotiating with "managers" all morning...

What happened to XRA's landing that made it so bad Peter? It touched down with the lhs wheel in the long grass. To be fair, it was really long compared to the nice mowed stuff. He battled (successfully) to keep it straight - ish and out of the drain

I have heard 3rd hand that all NZ Titan Mustangs are voluntary grounded while the NZ-made reduction system design is being revisited. I understand there are concerns...

The report of the third death has been strongly denied bu the RNZAF. "Serious but stable, not life threatening".
More poor reporting I'm afraid.
I have just returned from the Hamilton Anzac 10am service where my 12yo daughter presented her schools wreath. Air Vice-Marshal Lintott was present at the early service but returned to "work" to assist in this mornings accident.

Air crash kills three Three people are dead after an Air Force iroquois helicopter crashed into a farm north of Wellington. Police confirmed a search for the chopper was launched shortly before 7am. It was found on a farm near Pukerua Bay, north of Wellington. Four people were onboard. A Wellington Free Ambulance spokeswoman said three people were dead, and a fourth was taken to hospital in a serious to critical condition. Few details were available but it's understood it was one of three iroquois helicopters travelling to Wellington. Several emergency services - including the Westpac rescue helicopter - are involved. www.stuff.co.nz/national/3620627/Air-crash-kills-threeCondolences to all. What a terrible thing on such a great day. Pete

I spoke to my boss last night on Facebook - he is in Aberdeen and is supposed to be returning Sat morning. As of last night, it was meant to now be Tuesday. I'm not counting on seeing him for at least another week. He has done enough flying to know that yelling at the airport counter doesn't work...

This is noted in our family as the day my (at the time) 40 yo mum was told she was having twins... and then the Wahine went down I am one of the twins ;D A close family friend recalls trying to walk the small distance from her work to home along the waterfront in Wellington and wrapping her arms around a lightpost during a big gust. Her feet lifted up like you see in the cartoons. It is "thanks" to events like this witnessed by great aero-pioneers like Peter Button that started heli-rescue ops in NZ. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Button
