Actually, I was more concerned about the time, as living in Nelson seems to be a blessing and a curse, as it is too near to stay but to far to hang around afterwards. As I have said though, I will endeavour to convince mum & dad that it would not take to long

As I have said though, I will endeavour to convince mum & dad that it would not take to long What you do is you convince your Dad that it might be a good idea for him to refresh himself with a few cold beers at the Aero Club after the airshow. Naturally, he would then have to sweet-talk Mum into agreeing to it, and also into agreeing to be the designated driver on the way home so Dad can indulge in a few cold ones without having to worry about Mr Plod and his breath-test machine on the way home! ;D

Jim Rankin is seen here leading a flight of four Fokkers to Omaka two days ago. Great to see these aircraft back at Classic Fighters.

Thats a nice photo Gavin. So thats the 4 to join three already there to make up the Seven Fokkers? Yip, three are already at Omaka so we now have seven. This aircraft headed to Omaka on the same day as the Fokkers, quite interesting to fly with only 5 aircraft but 15 wings all up.

Ohhh YES! I am so looking forward to seeing the Sopwith Triplane flying. I saw it taxiing at Masterton before the weather curtailed WWI flying and it sounded so sweet then.
Seven Fokkers and a Sopwith Triplane all together, what a dream come true.

I've seen that Sopwith Tripe in the air three times now.
The first time was around the time it first took to the air and it flew over my place in Masterton. I heard a different sound and rushed out side and was scratching my head trying to work out what the strange triplane was. I knew it wasn't a Fokker DR.1, but was unaware at that state that TVAL had aquired a Sopwith Tripe. The second time was at the Anzac airshow last year (April 2010) at Hood Aerodrome. The third time was passing over my place again.
So what else is heading over from Hood? I presume the Camel will be at Classic Fighters....what about the FE2?
And while I'm posting, what is the story with the barbeque at the aero club at Omaka after the airshow each day? There will be a group of us there and we are planning to stick around for the evening show on the Friday. Presumably we can gatecrash the aero club barbeque? I presume we just pay some money and enjoy a barbeque dinner before the evening airshow? Two of us are members of this forum, and some of our group will be kids.

yes the Aero Club usually has a team who sell a fine meal of sausages, potatoes, salads, even steak, and you just line up, pay and eat, like a sausage sizzle. It raises them some money and is really good value and decent tucker from my past experience.

Beauty! Our squadron is there on the Saturday, so drop by the static display of the Hurricane. I am a Sergeant for the day, but may be a squadron leader if I am lucky.
