Errol, back when I interviewed Gwenda Reid (nee Nickle) a long time ago she told me that she was one of the first girls to work for the RNZAF, and she said she joined before the WAAF came into being. I cannot recall if it was just from her memory or whether she had documentation to back it up (I do recall she had some photos and documents when I visited her) but from that conversation I had her actual start date as the 1st of January 1940.
However I see on your WAAF list that you have the day she joined as being the 1st of January 1942. Is there any way of clarifying which date is correct? Or are they both correct? Had she been recruited in 1940 as a female worker, and later it was formalised when the WAAF was formed and her name was added to the WAAF list?

SGT (RTD) Kevin John Webb N80627 CHEF RNZAF 19 B.E.S 9 January 1962 to 8 January 1974. Peacefully at home with Lizzie, D.J. Pauline, Tom, David and his beloved dogs by his side (Meme, Leo and Tonka) Kevin passed away after a long illness. He was always so positive and brave. Much loved by family and many friends who have supported Kevin every day.A special thank you to Oncology CPH, Dr. Chris Hill and staff at Mairehau Medical, Fenwicks Pharmacy Kaiapoi, Nurse Maude District Nurses, Palliative Team and Support Workers who's skill and loving care allowed Kevin to stay at home as he wanted. Kevin is at home at 2 Caroline Way for anyone who wishes to visit.Funeral arrangements to be advised shortly. In lieu of flowers a donation to Nurse Maude would be most appreciated and can be made at the service. Kevin's partner Lizzie would like to extend her apologies to all those friends of Kevin who were waiting for the funeral details. Unfortunately the CHCH Press failed to publish the details on Mon morning. Lizzie has taken the Press to task for this oversight and has since learnt that all the details are handled by a service which is located in the Philippines. People should be aware of this when placing obits or advertisements and of the different time zones. Kevin's funeral was held on 9/August at 3pm at the Linwood Crematorium. Kind wishes to all Lizzie

OK. Thanks. She was pretty sharp back then, it may well have been my notes that were at fault.
