It had to have been 1992. I agree. I have checked my copy of 'By Such Deeds' and it does state 1990, though. It must be a misprint.

The birth date for him on "By Such Deeds" also does not tally with the death notice, BSD says he was born 4 Oct 1937. If he was in his 55th year (i.e. aged 54 years old) as his death notice says, that means he died in 1991, but the death notice says he died in Feb 1992. He is not on the New Zealand death register either, I guess because he died in London.
The Kaiapoi Cemetery records also state he died o the 25th of February 1992. It does not have his date of birth.

It had to have been 1992. Correct. BSD has the incorrect year of 1990. Errol

Seems to have forgotten his AFC. I can find no evidence of Donaldson having been awarded the AFC - there is no mention of one in his last entry in the RNZAF Air Force List. Do you have information to the contrary? Errol

From Colin Hanson’s By Such Deeds – Honours and awards in the Royal New Zealand Air Force, 1923 – 1999 : PALMER, Squadron Leader Brian Glenbourne Morrison, MBE. Y75324; Born Christchurch, 24 Sep 1932; RNZAF 25 Jan 1950 to 2 Jul 1987; Engineer. Citation Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (NY1982): Squadron Leader Palmer joined the RNZAF as a Boy Entrant in 1950. He was commissioned in 1965 and has held a variety of engineering posts at Bases and HQs throughout NZ. He is currently the Flight Commander of the Maintenance Flight at No 40 Sqn. During his time on No 40 Sqn, Sqn Ldr Palmer has demonstrated outstanding leadership and devotion to duty. Under his leadership his unit undertook a greatly increased share of the maintenance responsibility for Hercules aircraft at a time when he had a large number of young and inexperienced personnel under his command.
