SQN LDR (RTD) Barry James (Bazza) Balsom T81092 A&S (SEC) RNZAF 6 January 1963 until 13 March 1985. Barry was a member of 41 SQN from 15 June 1971 until 25 June 1973 and is a past President of the SQN Association. Barry passed away 24 July 2024 following a stroke. In accordance with Barrys wishes, there will not be a funeral, but potentially a celebration of his life at a later date. Condolences to Allison and family.

W/O (RTD) Kenneth Wakefield Boucher N888824 SS WKR RNZAF 21 April 1954 to 23 January 1979. Became a GSH Air Assistant 3 July 1979 to 9 May 1988.
Passed away in Christchurch on July 28, 2024, age 88 years. Former RNZAF airman, Riley car fanatic, all-round goon and sharer of terrible dad jokes. Cherished brother and beloved father and father-in-law to Kenneth (Kim), Allan and Hang, Martin and Marta, Jane (deceased), Linda and Alan, Dione and Reuben, adored grandfather of Danny, Chris, Ashley, Tamara, Alex, Joshua, Wynter, Cameo, Sara, and Kacper, and dearly remembered by all his friends and extended family.

Kedward Lloyd (Lloyd) Moorman NZ43004 RNZAF 1943 to 1945 It is with great sadness that Lloyd's family say farewell. Beloved Husband to the late Rebecca, Father to Dennis and the late Bronwyn. Grandfather to four and Great Grandfather to five. Lloyd passed away peacefully at the Ranfurly War Veterans Hospital on 29th July 2024 aged 99 years. Rest in peace Lloyd, you will be sorely missed. WA1 (RTD) Patricia Pearl Tie Nee Elgar W5509 WAAF 1 July 1943 until 1948. Patricia took her final flight on July 30, 2024, from Sprott House in Karori, aged 99. Until shortly before her death, she lived in her cottage in Karori where much of her life was spent. Devoted wife of Squadron Leader Alexander Stuart Tie (dec 1956). Daughter of Alfred Edward and Pearl Elizabeth Elgar. Sister of Edward, Gerald, Bettine, Stanley, Marjorie, Ronald and Ruhi. Greatly loved mother of Robert, Andrew, Wendy, Bruce and Maxwell. Grandmother of Karin Staines, Alexander, Louise and James Tie, Fraser and Jessica Allison, Dylan and Kim Tie, and Sophie and Catherine Tie. Great-grandmother of Gabrielle, Anna, Beatrice, Imogen, Rose, Arthur, Layla, Ardie, Aaliyah, Rueben, Charlie and Ardie. Pat had many nephews and nieces, and descendants from them. She was devoted to the memory of Stuart, and remained single after his death in the Malayan Emergency in 1956 while supply dropping during the monsoon. (The crash was the last fatal accident on active service in the RNZAF.) The RSA was a wonderful comfort to her, and their wartime friends supported her greatly all through life. BUTLER, Garry Hartley. Passed away peacefully aged 82 on Tuesday 30 July 2024 with family by his side. Dearly loved husband of Monica for 56 years, father and father-in-law to Katherine and Neil, Quinn and Magdalena, Ryan and Andrea, and Bianca and Adam. Much loved Grandpa to all his thirteen grandchildren. A service to celebrate his life is to be held at 11am on Tuesday 6 August 2024 at Grange Manor Chapel of Davis Funeral, 400 Dominion Road, Mt Eden.
Garry was a long time member and pilot with NZ Warbirds, and a member of their Beaver syndicate. He was also a volunteer in the visitors centre at Ardmore. RIP.

I just heard that John Byers, life member of the Sport Aircraft Association of New Zealand, passed away a week ago. RIP. John BYERS. On July 31, 2024, unexpectedly but peacefully at home, aged 85 years. WG CDR (RTD) John Barry Clements (JB) N79293 Pilot RNZAF 24 February 1958 until 17 December 1982. JB was attached to No 9 RAAF SQN in South Vietnam and he was also posted to 41 SQN 22 November 1975 until 26 November 1977.
Born 13th of June 1935, he passed away early in the morning on the 29th of July 2024. Well-known helicopter pilot, toy maker and Fulham supporter with a mischievous sense of humour. He is lovingly remembered by Pam, his wife of 62 years. Son Andy and wife Jo, Daughter Jane and husband Johannes. Loved OB of Connor, Jamie and Josh and a great-grandfather to Emily, Harvey and Kobi.
The family will be having a private memorial in his honour.
