Booked yes, flying at the moment, not as far as I know - has anyone heard it's made its first post restoration flight yet?

Here is an announcement from Graham Orphan who has asked me to post it here:
As Manager of the Chariots of Fire Fighter Collection, I regret to advise that Fw190A-8 'Storm of Steel' will not be attending as the team had hoped. The aircraft continues on its way through the test flying programme. It is mostly going well and we're very happy with the work carried out by JEM Aviation, and with Frank Parker's handling of the test flying programme, however there have been a few issues that have needed on-going attention and refinement, one of them being the brakes, so it has been decided that the aeroplane won't be going anywhere until it is 100% strong and reliable. This information was conveyed with apologies to Mandy Deans, WOW Organiser on Thursday (16th February) as soon as the decision had been made, so that she could make whatever arrangements were needed at the Wanaka end. There had never been a promise of attendance, but we had all hoped that the aircraft would have been far enough advanced on the test programme to be able to attend.

Best for the aeroplane to be 100% as intimated in the message. You would be even more peeved if it attended and then could not display.

You're right Joe, and I think it is better that they have announced this now rather than have people get there and find out it's not coming on the day.

Very disappointing for those able to go, I hadn't even thought it would attend for some reason.
I'm sure the other aircraft appearing will make up for the non-appearance of the Butcher Bird.

I understand the Catalina has some reasonably significant corrosion issues?

I'm sorry to hear there are issues, I hope all are remedied in good time.
Maybe another paint scheme and a bit of rhinoplasty? ;-)

Hi - long time viewer/first time poster. Hope this request is acceptable.
Is anyone driving to Christchurch after the airshow on Sunday 8th with a spare seat? I'm on the ATR flight into Wanaka that morning but haven't found return transport at a reasonable price.

I believe their facebook page now says no RAAF participation this year.

No RAAF? Would that be the first time?

There was no RAAF participation at any of the airshows I have been to there at Wanaka Joe, 1992, 1993 and 2006, as far as I recall.

The RAAF F-111 was there in 2006 when I was there
