I am planning on getting up there for the Mossie display or the forum meet. Only problem is that I have to get from Auck Intl to Dairy Flat or Ardmore.

I guess Papakura, Takanini and Drury will be among the closest places for accommodation. I don't know if there are any B&B's closer to the airfield at Ardmore or Clevedon, possibly.

Lots of people are saying they'll "be there" but this is two seperate events.
If you intend to attend the event on the 22nd of September at Don's place can you email me with your real name, and number of people who may come with you. This is so we can guage how many intend to turn up there. My email as ever is dave_daasnz@hotmail.com
Thanks.

JW, sorry that factor has not yet been worked out but I would estimate at this stage we'll start around mid-morning. Robyn has suggested we have a gold-coin-donation sausage sizzle for lunch, so if every individual or group brings a plate of something to go with, we can have a really good lunch.

I guess Papakura, Takanini and Drury will be among the closest places for accommodation. I don't know if there are any B&B's closer to the airfield at Ardmore or Clevedon, possibly. Note the Harvard Lane entrance is 12-15 minutes from the motorway (Hill Rd, Takanini, or Papakura off-ramps) in normal circumstances. I imagine there is very little little accommodation within what you would normally call walking distance of Ardmore. Google says that Papakura is an hour walk, if you are keen. Don't assume that this event will have a large number of attendees. It might, if a large-scale publicity campaign is launched (after permissions for a major event are gained, obviously). Or an approach similar to the Ardmore Open Days could be taken, meaning traffic impact of some clogging of Hamlin Rd for an hour or two.

Teresa and I are all set for the forum meet and the Airshow. (Confirmation email heading your way Dave) We are flying up Friday and returning Sunday evening. We are staying at the Takanini Park Motor Lodge which if you check out the map on their website is a stones throw from Ardmore. We will also have a rental car so we explore a little bit. www.takaninipark.co.nz/EDIT: Looks like Obiwan27 will be joining us.

Sent in my confirmation email! I showed Miss Sam a 1996 video of RR299 at North Weald to let her know why I was so ecstatic about the airshow: "Yeah, it looks like a cute plane."
As always, I look forward to catching up with everyone and putting more names to faces.

[glow=red,2,300]IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT[/glow]
I have just received a phonecall from Peter Fahey of Mosquito First Flight Ltd., who told me that due to a previously unforeseen clash of dates, the team have reluctantly decided they have to put off the Mosquito public display by a week.
They now plan to hold the display on Saturday the 29th of September 2012.
I know this will disrupt a number of you who have already made plans. This decision was only made this afternoon and Peter has just let me know. He apologises for any inconvenience.
Please do not shoot the messenger.

Hmmm well does this mean we can change the Forum meet to the Sunday afterwards as there's no way I'll be able to go up both weekends.

As you can imagine Baz this has sent me into 'panic mode' but that is what I hope we can do.
I have to check with Don and Robyn Subritzky and see if this is going to be possible yet. Watch this thread, I'll announce more details as they come to hand.

While this change is inconvenient/expensive for some, it does mean that I'll be able to make it to the Mossie show! Might be best if I beg a lift (from One Tree Hill), so if I collapse with jet lag I'm not stuck at Ardmore with a car.

Hum. The much-anticipated (by Sam and I) Bill Bailey show is on in Wellington the night before.
Oh goodness. FML.
