The problem I find with resin kits is that you have to build 'em using CA, you often only get one chance to line all the bits up before the glue grabs & if the alignment is off...drastic measures may be required!

CA is also really brittle and joins can be broken easily I've used Epoxy for the wings and to re attach the nose. However whilst you've got good working time this can also be a disadvantage

I'm making progress but need some confirmation on colours for the SEA scheme
The instructions, which look like might be based of the RNZAF paint drawings, say the underside is gloss black. In the best image I've found of the underside of the wings it looks like dark green. The are some demarcations shown for the underside as well.
Anyone have any thoughts on the underside paint pattern/colours
And the main colour on the props, light grey or silver? I'm leaning towards light metallic grey.

I remember closely looking at the underside of an Andover with the so-called SEA scheme at Harewood in about (1987?) at a major air display (possibly the PDL Air Race from Singapore), as I was wondering about this scheme at the time. Because of the low sun angle shining directly onto the paintwork it was easy to see that it was a very dark, and very matt green. You were right to be suspicious of gloss black, which was of course part of the original RAF scheme. Unfortunately do not know the official name of this paint, but one of those with possession of the technical drawing should be able to answer this. David D

Thanks David
The dark green would be the same as the dark green on the upper surfaces.
I have the paint drawings for the later Andovers (Euro 1, VIP and UNIMOG) but not for the SEA scheme. Anyone have this that they can share?

I have those SEA scheme paint drawings Calum. I'll try to dig them out in the next day or so. EDIT: Found them in the first place I looked! I'll get a good set of photographs in daylight tomorrow and post them Thanks, most appreciated

Finally got around to getting the latest lot of photos of the camera As I said earlier the cut was really nice and only needed a few swipes across some sandpaper on my glass work surface to take the rough edges off. using 5 min epoxy I glued some skewers inside to give the nose a bit of extra strength Then shot some black just to make sure you can't see them I used 5 min epoxy to glue it back on. It definitely looks better The join is pretty nice so there shouldn't be to much clean up Here you can see how much I rotated the nose

Calum , I did them up and start a new thread in the 'Persevering New Zealand Aviation', the photos are very low res photoed well over twelve years back.

Is the shape of the cockpit area right against drawings Calum? In the photos it appears to look way too square above the pilots' windows, rather than the gentle curve you see in side profile photos of the real thing. Is this an optical illusion?

Thanks Steve, they're excellent. Confirms what I was thinking about the bottom, i.e. it's not gloss black but dark green with a light green tail section.. Shot some Tamiya Rubber black for the deicing boot. Decided I wasn't happy with the right engine's orientation So I had to cut it off and re orientate it Much happier, just need to get it all primed again

Agreed! Great job. While I'm disappointed it won't be in the Euro 1 scheme - I really can't afford to buy another kit! - I know it'll come out looking superb. Thanks again for all your progress updates.

No thoughts on my question regarding the cockpit roof shape?
