Fantastic job Calum, thanks for the tutorial!
I have the S+M boxing with RAF markings. Will be getting an OMD sheet though to do a kiwi in my favourite Andover scheme (two tone green and grey). If anyone wants to make an RAF bird, drop me a PM for the decals.
Dave, I agree there is an upper cabin decking issue - looks a little high and square I think, making the nose appear stumpier than it should.
General, if you still need tracings of the rear fuselage shape, let me know.
About the travel to recruit course, I took the Wellington Ferry to Picton. We were picked up and taken to Woodbourne (sorry, 'RNZAF Base Woodbourne'! ) by RNZAF bus in VIP Andover scheme. :-)

Thanks all for the comments. Windows going in using Deluxe materials Glue and Glaze, which appears to be a good quality PVA glue. I had a couple of goes at the windows using Deluxe materials Glue-n-Glaze. It's pretty easy to apply but after my initial attempts I had a few "cloudy windows" which never dried clear. The reason I figured out, was that the glue was to thick. So I picked out the windows out and reapplied the glue. This time after applying the glue I dipped a tooth pick in the wet glue to remove some of the excess, repeating this process until the glue in centre of the window started to look clear. This appears to have worked well. I did take out to much a few times. The front windows aren't as good as I'd hoped, there are specks and marks on on the inside. But that is down to me (read back for the causes) Started on the undercarriage. Fit of these is quite solid which is good because this thing weighs a ton. I have issues with the alignment of the engine pieces but it's too late to do anything about it. This thing won't win any competitions, but I just need to get it finished.

Another lesson learnt, the hard way -Don't leave resin kits in the sun and go and mow the lawn. Especially when it's the nicest day we've had since last summer One wing straightened ok the other.. guess which one I did first whilst it was still warm... On the plus side I wasn't happy with the angle of the wings so I guess I can fix that now...... And I know how.

Oh bugger. You might need to get a refrigerated cabinet for your models?

I saw that bendy photo on Facebook this morning but couldn't bring myself to comment. A fear of sagging wings is one reason I've shunned larger resin kits....although my fear was based on a 10yr+ span, not one afternoon!
Is it possible to fix the second wing without damaging paint and decals?

Damn, that must be heartbreaking mate!!! You did a bloody good with the repair so far though, I take my hat off to ya. Hope you keep at it and fix the other wing too.
(Guess this means I'm going to have to be very careful where I put mine when done too...not that they get much sunshine here in Ireland!)

Lets have a go at repairing this. I first had to heat the wing root piece on the fuselage and bend it down to remove the 30 degree angle it was on. This took a fair bit of heat so the wife's hairdryer got quite a work out, to the point it stopped working - that didn't make me popular, but thankfully it was just a thermal cut out. I then had to clean out all the windows as my fingers had wrecked many of them when trying to reshape the wings and wing root. This is a time consuming and annoying process. I cleaned up the mating surfaces and used 5 min epoxy to glue the wing on. I then ran some CA into the gaps and covered it with PPP leaving it to set overnight Next day it's we're off to a promising start.

Nice repair and save Calum.
For a while I thought you might have to repaint it as the one that crashed in Africa, I seem to recall it's wings ended up on similar angles

It's a long way from being saved unfortunately Dave... Lots of damage to the paint finish which is taking a lot of time to repair.

WELL I have to say I have been following this from afar. Calum you have been doing a fantastic job on this one. BUT after seeing the damage done from the sun after you had finished mowing the lawns... Well I'm afraid that Andover would have been next for the CHOP.!!! from me ... YOU HAVE PATIENTS that's for sure.

Yup you've had a pretty hard time with this one Calum. Resin or vac models of this size & weight could probably just about benefit from a wing spar of some sort (to bear the weight). I wonder if a thin brass strip cut or dremeled etc into the wings (and glued on edge) may have helped?

I cannot understand why the manufacturer doesn't place a stiffening rod into the mould when pouring the resin.

I wonder if a thin brass strip cut or dremeled etc into the wings (and glued on edge) may have helped? I was thinking that if I ever built another (extremely unlike) I'd add a spar out of brass box section right across the bottom. The wing to fuselage join is poor for something of this size/weight. My pins haven't proved very useful and on the wing that fell off, I didn't replace them
