The Farriers is fully booked-out on Friday evening, but do have free tables on Sunday evening.
So we may have to reverse things and go to Lone Star on Friday evening.

I hope this show isn't going to be a complete 'washout' excuse the pun! Travelling down (via Wellington) tomorrow AM...could be an early session in the bar at this rate!!

Yes, I'll be checking out day-trip alternatives from Palmy (where I'm flying into) tonight...

The Black Falcons are shortly to depart, or possibly have already - Falcon 4 Sqn Ldr Hayden Sheard was in a Facebook Live video about an hour ago prepping for the flight to Hood. Unfortunately I can't link to it as I'm at work.
EDIT - someone posted 6min ago she heard them over Wairarapa Hospital!

From Wings Over Wairarapa Facebook: Look up over the habour in Wellington tonight (Thursday, 16th Feb) as the two Aerosparx motor gliders put on a special teaser ahead of Wings Over Wairarapa. The aircraft, which are have coloured LED lights on the wings and fuselage, strobes and pyrotechnics similar to lit fireworks, will do a colourful flight display. This will happen between approx. 8.15pm - 8.45pm.

It's a cool way to promote the show! As long as people know it's for the show.

I have arrived safely in Masterton and settled into the motel.
Weather wet as far is Waipukerau, cloudy but no rain yet at MS.
A quick perv at the field shows a lot of the WW1 stuff outside. Also visible were the two Grobs G-OFIX and G-OSPX and (harrah!) the Agricola ZK-BXO.

Whatever you can arrange will be great thanks Bruce. Just keep us informed. Much appreciated.

and (harrah!) the Agricola ZK-BXO. Woo! Awesome! The first and only time I've seen that fly was at Hood in 2001.

I've booked a table for eight people at Lone Star (click on the link to open their website and reveal exactly where they are) for 6:30pm tomorrow evening, Friday 17th February. I explained to them that number could vary up or down a bit and they are happy to accommodate us with that. The booking is in my name, Bruce Scott, so front up at the bar and they will point you in the direction of those who have already turned up and they will then make up a table to suit the numbers who actually turn up. I've checked with The Farriers and they can fit us in on Sunday evening after the airshow, so get in touch with me if you wish to meet up on Sunday evening (my mobile number is 027-4830263) and I'll make an online booking, probably by midnight tomorrow (Friday) night.

It's a cool way to promote the show! As long as people know it's for the show. There was a short article in today's Dominion Post newspaper telling Wellington folks to look out for the teaser in the sky over the harbour tonight.

Hosing down steadily for the last 12 hours, real solid heavy rain. Good for the grass, not so good for an air show.
Will probably pop out later today to see how they are coping, but warm and snug inside for now.

Looked at weather, heading over Sunday. Apparently the Aerosparks display did happen over the harbour last night, but not over the bit of harbour I was looking at so I missed it.

Metvuw's forecast shows the rain clearing over Masterton and Napier around about Monday.
Glad I was never going to go to either event, but it's hugely disappointing for those who are attending the two events

Managed to see two Aerosparks last night at the Petone end of WGTN harbour 2045ish, I was a bit far away in the hills but they looked pretty cool through the bino's.

Will probably pop out later today to see how they are coping, but warm and snug inside for now. I'll keep an eye out for any photos! Very disappointing for folks going to this and/or Napier. Now I'm hoping Ohakea doesn't meet with a similar fate.

Saw the Aerosparks on TV - quite impressed with the colour show, but did note the relatively gentle maneuvering.
