Oh!! Oh!! If he responds, ask him if he can get one of those space-fighting Spitfires to attend... That would be AWESOME!!

From the RNZAF website: "Joining the RNZAF are several aircraft from our international Air Force partners in what will be a top-quality event." "Chief of Air Force Air Vice-Marshal (AVM) Mike Yardley (...)"We’re pleased to be able to host our international Air Force counterparts and we know they will bring a wow factor,” he said." Awesome. Hopefully they're not just transports on static, but even if that's the case it'll still be cool just to see different stuff. The full news release is here: www.airforce.mil.nz/about-us/news/media-releases/media-release.htm@guid=%7Bfb651de3-fcf7-4a12-a9be-b73c15b46827%7D.htmAlso this is interesting: "The Air Force is working closely with the WoW Air Show to bring two quality events to the lower North Island and maximise the opportunities for people to see a wide range of aircraft." I wonder how much of Wings Over Wairarapa will be duplicated the following weekend?

Start the wishlist: RAAF C-27 (they may have a display routine by then?) A400M (Malaysian or French) RAF heavy plausible, but unlikely. RAAF Super Hornets (over for 'mountain training') C-17s of course

Hopefully the Americans will bring something more than transports now that we seem to be getting a bit closer. Hopefully there will be a better traffic management plan in place this time. In my opinion all state highway traffic both north-south on SH1 and east-west on SH3 would need to be re-routed to avoid any issues.

Our best chance would be some Marine Corps assets rotating in or out of planned bassing in Australia, I think (see the USMC KC-130J from 2012). An amphib task force with an "it isn't an aircraft carrier, really" in Auckland for the week would be stellar! There was talk this week of B-1s rotating into Tindal, so you never know!

At least this thread has clarified that the airshow is in 2017. The Press originally said it was next year and I couldn't think of anything significant happening in 1936 except that we had 3 Kings in the one year. Then maybe the Air Force wanted a 79th Anniversary Airshow to practice for the big event in 2017 to try out the new traffic plan

I'm guessing it was a typo.
Well, as my folks are in Wanganui I can guarantee I'll be there for all three days. On my own, though...Sam's memories of the last Ohakea show are not pleasant.

While Wanaka is still going the NZBCA are planning a charter for this show next year from Ardmore for the Sunday. While preference will be given to RNZAF vets ,pm me if you are keen on a seat. Likewise the 75 Squadron reunion in October THIS year in Tauranga.

Some weeks ago the Air Force's Facebook page had a logo advertising the show as the Air Tattoo - no sign of anything on their website newer than the original press release, though.

Page 23 of the latest Air Force News: airforce.mil.nz/downloads/pdf/airforce-news/afn178.pdfNote how half the ad is about how traffic will be better

Thanks for that!
We had electronic/pre-purchased tickets. There was no-one at the gate to check them.
Anyway, onward and upward!

I wonder if Air New Zealand will be putting on another 777 or a 787 for this show.
