Great shots Sam. Like that one with the GoPro being removed. Hope the footage gets released .. the RAAF has lately done that for a few displays eg Bathurst. I noticed the F16 pilot fitting one too on Saturday at Avalon...that hornet vapour shot is great too. I spoke to that pilot on Saturday he said that's called squatting the jet when it tail slides like that. Thank you  The squat is a great move, nice and noisy and close to the crowd, and easy to anticipate if you know the routine (or notice the smoke disappear as the throttles go forward). It's just a pity the cloud turning up at the wrong time greyed things out a bit I agree the footage would be cool to see. Nice to know whatever suction they are using is rated for 7G+ too |

You could be overthinking that. I suspect not many, if anyone else in the crowd, other than you, would have picked up on that, if that is what he meant! I saw him doing the 'Hang Ten' sign as he taxied past us, too. Who knows what it was, he did this on arrival:  photo from MRC Aviation as per watermark, not mine, I can't get such good photos |

There are some amazing shots in this thread. Looking through them made me recall how still and bright it was on the Saturday morning. It seemed like the smoke trails from the Texan and Harvard might stay in the sky all day. What a beaut way to kick off a great weekend.   |

Just imagine what they can build on now for the next one. RAAF F-35's, USAF F-22's, RNZAF Harvard back in the air, RNZAF Boeing P-8's. It'll be great next time around.

I think Hardyakka's right about the Thulsa Doom hand signal. Seem to remember something about it in the Officer's Mess at Townsville when talking with all the guys from the F.16 display team who had arrived late. F.16s arrived right on dusk and the tanker with their ground crew some time later. We went to the local pizza joint and bought about 20 plus beers back to the O for them because food service had finished before everyone had cleared Customs. Very nice night and a great bunch of blokes and women. Dave, I'm still to get you a copy of their display routine commentary - it is mammoth - and I'll also get onto Punch and confirm about that hand signal.
