Great shots Sam. Like that one with the GoPro being removed. Hope the footage gets released .. the RAAF has lately done that for a few displays eg Bathurst. I noticed the F16 pilot fitting one too on Saturday at Avalon...that hornet vapour shot is great too. I spoke to that pilot on Saturday he said that's called squatting the jet when it tail slides like that.

I heard (on both show days) the PA announce that the RNZAF has an active strength of 51 aircraft. I know the RNZAF's generous enough to allow them to be based at Ohakea, but they're not actually RNZAF aircraft, are they?

No but they are flown by RNZAF members and owned by an Hon. Wing Commander.... just saying

Whereas the Harvard and the Tiger Moth are still RNZAF property.

Great shots Mr Hall. was wondering if you had any static shots of the NH90 that had the external fuel tanks fitted. Haven't seen any flying here with them on.

Aircraft 50 and 51 might be Sioux NZ3713 and Iroquois NZ3808

I think I have seen original images when they first mooted it with machine gun attached to that rear cabin window, which would restrict pax numbers, although who would be wanting to be sitting next to someone with a machine gun going off in your ear. 30mm rotary cannon off the ramp seems better. There would be 12mm gun pods available to attach to those pylons ??

Very nice shots Sam, I think we must have been standing a few feet apart for a while there! We could have had a WONZ reunion at the end of Frecklingtons Rd on Friday afternoon for sure! Aircraft 50 and 51 might be Sioux NZ3713 and Iroquois NZ3808 I'd seriously doubt that. They are not active and never will be again. They are museum aircraft now. All the talk the RNZAF Commentator used to put out at airshows that they intended to keep one of each flying in the Historic Flight went out the window. Same with the Devon they had lined up for the Flight.

You could be overthinking that. I suspect not many, if anyone else in the crowd, other than you, would have picked up on that, if that is what he meant! I saw him doing the 'Hang Ten' sign as he taxied past us, too. Nice photies, guys.

A couple of my efforts. Thankyou and likewise, your shots are spectacular - what gear are you using? By my estimation there are at least four WONZ members in this thread alone who were at Frecklington Rd on Friday, but only ErrolC and I recognised each other Alas I couldn't stay until the F-16's arrived.

Well, you might think that, but despite walking past the beast twice and noting the tanks both times I didn't take any photos of it - 8 year old daughter on a mission to get all the squadron stamps (great idea by the organisers by the way, along with the shade tents) took priority Thanks anyway for your estimation in anticipation
