Nope, nothing interesting like air racing on one or three news tonight. To sum up the news, election blah blah rugby blah blah weather.

You can e-mail news to TVNZ : news@tvnz.co.nz Maybe if several people submit the story they may wake up to its importance.... yeah right

I've sent Facebook messages to Blenheim's paper (fairly sure they've covered it earlier) and the Wanganui Chronicle (as, like me, Graeme's from there) as well as the TV news companies. I've tried Facebook messaging some others like RadioSport but there's an error messaging that suggests it thinks I'm spamming...

That is brilliant news. I can't believe the media aren't picking up the story. If it were the Yanks they'd have made a mini series out of it by now (World's Fastest Kiwi / Yak). Looking at the line up for the Gold Race it's the whose who of aircraft racing - like a Superband for pilots. Good luck to the team. Can't wait to hear the result.

Today's the day. The schedule is up: Untitled by Zac Yates, on Flickr The Duck Walk is down for 10.30am NZT so I suggest those of you lucky enough to be able to watch do so from before then so you can get the full Unlimited Gold experience. I'd call in sick today if not for the fact it'd be too much of a coincidence!

Fighter Flights just said on Facebook the Duck Walk is 2.45pm (9.45am here)- remember what I said about tuning in early!

Can you buy those full noise tshirts? Here is another of Graeme's achievements, crossing the Tasman in his Nanchang a few years ago.

I'm hoping you can when they get back. I asked on Facebook before they left for Chino and Graeme said they hadn't thought about any merchandise yet, which is understandable! I know there are American fans who want them. For anyone interested, here are the results from the Unlimited Bronze. The Silver (all Mustangs this year, appropriately enough) is underway as I type. 2017 Unlimited Bronze by Zac Yates, on Flickr

The Unlimited Silver racers are now landing and I think the result is Robbie Patterson 1st, John Maloney in Spam Can 2nd and John Muszala II in Shanty Irish 3rd - same as the pairings to start.
For those who don't know, Shanty Irish is a P-51A whose restoration was finished last week. It used to be in an OD/NG scheme with the name Polar Bear (restored using lots of D parts) and raced at Reno a couple of times but now, as these photos lifted from WIX show, is a stunningly beautiful and much more accurately-restored specimen:

I got most of it except the last two laps (don't tell the Judge) - did Voodoo regain the lead? EDIT: I just saw Jay raise the trophy, never mind! Congrats Team Strega!
