Damn, unofficial results have a 16sec penalty for Full Noise (pylon cut?) which means 7th place.

Well, well, that was something else.
The commentators gave the New Zealand team great coverage. No matter the placing, "World Famous at Reno" is good enough.

Seriously amazing achievement. Unlimited Gold in their first go. Big thanks to Dave and Zac for the footage and screenshots. Hopefully they will now get some recognition and home celebration for the achievements.

By the way, it has to be said, how flipping cool is it to see four Hawker Sea Furies in the same place, and the same race. What amazing beasts they are!

You could fit a Yak on the wing of each Fury and still have room to spare. Ditto on the four ship Fury. Given Full Noise is almost stock that makes the race more remarkable.

I just posted a reader comment to a news story about Scott Dixon at STUFF, giving them a “serve” for ignoring Graeme Frew and “Full Noise”; and included a link to this thread. The comment has to go past the moderators, but lets hope they (a) allow the comment onto the website; and (b) take a look at this thread, then get their arse into gear.

And without the 16 second penalty would have come 6th in front of one of the Furies!

Considering that the Yak is about 2000hp + down on the 'superstangs' that was a bloody good effort! And I'm sure being invited to race in the Gold final is a sign the locals were impressed with what the saw from Fruju and the boys! Good work! I hope there are a few well deserved coldies being sunk tonight 👍

I'm pretty sure Full Noise is the first stock inline Yak-3 to ever compete in Unlimited Gold. And Steadfast is the only other stock Yak I can think of to have competed in the Gold - all the others have been chopped and re-engined like the Superstangs. An incredible achievement!
Here's a video of the Gold race, I've not watched it yet:

I watched 3 News tonight in disgust. They dedicated at least 3 minutes to a story FROM THE US about some banjo playing, six toed "Pro" wrestler who wears Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump outfits. It was an appalling piece of American rubbish. Despite having been informed about Full Noise they put this trash on instead! Shame on you TV3.

This YouTube clip has all the Unlimited Gold aircraft going down the Valley of Speed. Still pump my fists seeing Full Noise there!

Probably after I posted a reader comment to a story on STUFF about Scott Dixon, giving them a real decent serve for ignoring the exploits of Graeme Frew and his Yak-3 over the weekend. The sites moderators blocked my comment from appearing, but it must have prodded them into action. I actually inserted a link to this thread into the comment.

Or it could have been the other 100 emails they have received over the weekend. You're the third person I have seen claiming personal credit tonight, haha.

Ah, but I actually found an email from STUFF in my inbox when I opened it not long after posting that last message (I hadn't opened emails since early this morning) informing me they were going to look into it.
