Travis, nice base. Spent some time there when we were doing the B25 and PV.1......what's the collective noun for a group of Hercs? A good military term, a fight of Heres.

Don't say "Labour" on any RNZAF forums. Nightmare memories of Aunty Helen and the F16s will be reanimated..

NZ7012 left Apia 10 minutes ago I guess homeward bound. NZ7013 still hasn't left yet though.

NZ7012 left Apia 10 minutes ago I guess homeward bound. NZ7013 still hasn't left yet though. Maybe they are in formation with only one transponder switched on...? Or can you still see 13 on the ground? Do we do welcoming formations any more? The RNZAF Facebook post says the Hercs will be doing a little PR tour from Kaitaia to Whenuapai. North Shore Aero Club are the sort of enthusiasts that could do a bit of a flying welcome, perhaps? Just don't get in the way

Both are on their way with 7013 chasing 7012 at 50 knots faster trying to catch up?

I was just thinking, when the C-130H Hercs first arrived in New Zealand from the factory, the first the public would have known was after their arrival in the newspaper the next day. Or perhaps there was a short item on the radio or TV news that evening, though unlikely as the news was only a very brief programme in the 1960s. Nowadays we can track them in real time from the factory all the way to touchdown. Modern technology is pretty neat.
