No quite right. The gangs rule through good lawyers, the PC world we live in and a reluctance by the government to upset the potential voters for next year

a reluctance by the government to upset the potential voters for next year There's an election next year? I thought it was to be on or before 13 January 2024. Would be good if it was brought forward.

Talking about the weather Sydney briefly had a tornado alert yesterday as the cells rolled in. Ended up mainly just torrential rain..good for the dams.

Also the news yesterday that the temporary road bridge at Wallendbeen (basically a glorified steel Bailey Bridge) had been craned into position over the main north-south rail lines during the week and that work was due to commence immediately on building the approach ramps and roadway to the temporary bridge as it is offset from the original bridge and approach road alignment. The bridge is expected to open for traffic by the end of the month (weather permitting). This will be good for those of us planning to travel over to and from Temora via the Burley Griffin Way for future flying days and weekends, saving the current lengthy detour via Cootamundra. It is a single lane bridge, with traffic flow to be controlled by traffic lights.

The way the incident was reported in an email to one of the members over at pprune forum is: "Vampire took off, went up to 10,000 feet and throttled back. There was a bang from the engine, throttle advanced and vibration and a fire warning light came on. The aircraft made a deadstick landing back at Temora and the fire truck put out flames that were coming out the back as it was stopping. Bad damage to the engine nacelle." If as reported, certainly a major setback for the Vampire and for TAM as a whole. I had seen the Vampire sitting on the ramp at TAM earlier this past week via the airport weather webcams, but had not seen anything of the incident described.
What the weather webcams at Temora have shown is that good progress has been made with the civil works that had led to the closure of the north-south runway in front of the museum hangars and an excavation across the runway as part of the works. Now all filled in and looks like ready for resealing of the runway over the area where the works occurred. If I recall correctly, this may be part of a multi-million dollar civil works program that was announced for Temora Airport a few years back to improve drainage on the airfield and aprons, especially when heavy rainfall occurs. They need to have it finished by 20 November for the next Aircraft Showcase at TAM.
UPDATE: Temporary bridge over the main rail line at Wallendbeen opened yesterday removing the requirement for the diversion off the Burley Griffin Way for traffic heading to and from Temora. That saves approx 40 minute diversion via Cootamundra.

Activity on the ramp at Temora Aviation Museum this morning. Looks like someone is getting ready to turn some AVTUR into noise. Currency and practice flying before the Aircraft Showcase at TAM on 20 November. TAM Canberra 03112021 by Colin Ford, on Flickr TAM is also hosting some Australian Army Aviation S-70 Blackhawks for a couple of hours this afternoon.

Wings Over Illawarra 2021 Airshow has announced they have secured the "last hurrah" farewell public airshow display for the RAAF F/A-18 'Classic' Hornet comprising a four ship formation display, followed by a mock airfield attack, rounded out by a solo aircraft handling display - closing act likely both Saturday and Sunday of the airshow.
AND, I've just had to roll my 2021 ticket to 2022 because the new dates for the event now clash with a family event that has also been rescheduled to the same weekend as the states come out of Covid lockdown. One of those family events that if I don't go and do my family duty vs me going to an airshow, it's not going to end well. Oh well. I am conflicted.............
Temora Aviation Museum have reported that their Canberra has done three flights in the past week in preparation for its upcoming first public display after return to flight at TAM later this month. The Canberra has also been involved in doing some filming work, early morning, lots of atmospheric smoke, pilot in full flight gear striking suitable 'jet jock' poses, will have to wait and see what that is for.
The TAM Wirraway is also undergoing its annual with good progress being made so that is should be ready by the TAM Aircraft Showcase on 20 November.
