Look pretty pro to me, those blur panning shots aren't easy to nail, thanks for sharing and feel free to post more.
That silver scheme on the Mosie looks so good.

Thanks for the updates so far - looks like it was one for the ages. I'm looking forward to seeing more pics and reading attendees' impressions. From a distance I've had major FOMO, and I am strangely hungry for coverage to increase my self-schadenfreude.

Top 10 Warbirds Airshow for me, the weather, the attendees and the atmosphere made for an enjoyable weekend. I am so pleased we got to see a Mosquito display down here. A few photos until the pros start posting. All taken on the Friday where the weather was not the best. IMG_9203 by C R, on Flickr mosquito by C R, on Flickr IMG_9053 by C R, on Flickr The weather on Saturday and Sunday was impeccable! Gin-clear skies, fresh snow on the mountains, cool air with closely knit molecules, and no wind. The generated smoke hung in the air for ages. But...that made for the worst photographic conditions I've ever experienced. The severe contrast with the bright sunlight and strong shadows made it very difficult for an amateur like me. Even just watching with the naked eye was difficult at times. The unobscured sun rose above the ridge line early morning and was in your face the entire day. Sunblock imperative. Nonetheless, this was one of the best shows I've attended in my 50 years of attending. Well done all.

Totally agree about the weather. Most of my photos were overexposed and backlit on the Friday morning. It was only in the afternoon that any of the shots became usuable. Saturday and Sunday would have been worse, but I didn't have a camera with me. Never had it like that before at Warbirds.
None of that takes away from what was a fantastic airshow. I will post a couple more shots later.

I also had challenges with the sun and the heat. On Saturday afternoon I noticed how hot my camera body was (Black one) and it was having difficulty in maintaining focus. Worked out later that the heat had expanded the focusing ring so that it was binding on the zoom barrel. However of the 1388 pics taken, some good ones amongst them. Have forwarded a selection to Dave to put on the site. How many badly burnt spectators?

A couple more photo's One of the many highlights was the American Eagles who flew an extremely tight display. Their display was very much modeled on the USAF Thunderbirds which meant there was never a dull moment and they flew the L-39's in a way we had never seen before. Who knew an L-39 could perform a tail slide? IMG_9254 by C R, on Flickr I had a quick chat to Mike Smith, what a great guy. He clearly loves the Corsair and enjoys people seeing it. For years I had hoped someone would repaint it into an RNZAF scheme and he was the man to do it. The Ghost Squadron emblem is the icing on the cake. The Corsair flew Fri/Sat with it's new tanks, before they were removed for the Sunday display. IMG_9231 by C R, on Flickr

*Jones.
But I 100% agree with the sentiment about the Corsair.

Thanks for all the great pics reminding me of my visit to the airshow in 2014 from Melbourne Australia. Cheers.

Well, back in the West Island following the lightning trip over the Ditch for Wanaka. The Mossie was fantastic to see as was my fav, Brendon's Mustang. Loved Mike's Corsair and its new tanks (although some liked it 'stripped'). Finally had the opportunity to meet up again with old friends, tell lies and have a few beers. Great to see and be able to do some work with Pete McQ again.....God, was it 2012 we did the Mossie first display airshow at Ardmore.....Wanaka itself was as beautiful as I remember it. Dusting of snow on the high tops, cool breeze, blue skies but a bit of sting in the sun. Cannot wait for a raft of pics here to remind me of what was there......roll on 2026

That was a phenomenal show. It's genuinely hard to pick a highlight because there were so many wonderful performances and moments. The finale flypast with Ian Brodie 's tribute to Sir Tim will be forever etched in my memory. Well done to the organisers, volunteers, ground crews and pilots!!! I'm back in Whanganui this week and have other commitments preventing me from posting photos taken with my Proper Camera until the weekend, but in the meantime here's an album of photos taken on my cellphone (link) and here's a video of clips filmed with said phone: Finally had the opportunity to meet up again with old friends, tell lies and have a few beers. There were beers? Why was I not informed?! You had ample opportunity to do so!

Even as I type, that silver Mustang is once again tearing around at low altitude over western Christchurch (Upper Riccarton, and out over towards ChCH Intl Airport area). Again, I am guessing they might be taking up moderately wealthy, keen types on their first "P-51 experience". Uh Oh, seems to have disappeared now (by 1335), presume landed.

Would you believe it, that silver P-51 is flying over Christchurch again today, just flew over my house 5 minutes ago! Sky rather cloudy, but some sun getting through, temperatures not so high though. Flew over again just about 10 mins ago, must have flown best part of 6 flight or more so far (carrying passengers?)

The owner lives here. Often, the week before and after WoW, he has the Mustang based here for local joyrides out of Harewood (since Wigram closed). You can follow his flights on Flightradar

This cool photo popped up on the WoW Facebook page ( link)... "WHAT A BLAST!!! - The grand finale at Wanaka 2024 saw the traditional Fighter Flypast followed by our 300m long 'Wall of Fire'. There have been plenty of ground shots of the fiery finale posted but we thought you might enjoy this one taken from a camera mounted under the Mosquito as it led the flypast over the pyros."
