Got the word that P51 Mustang "Dove of Peace" now VH-LUI is on the move on her way to Australia. Have been told she will not transit Lord Howe Island sadly. Going Norfolk Island then on to Brisbane, as I type this near Timaru, speed indicated on Flightaware 363km/h! flightaware.com/live/flight/VHLUI

I heard her in the distance, was quite poignant...until a Cessna decided to fly over!

Is she plumbed for drop tanks or just relying on internal fuel?

Arrived there safely for the night by the look of things. That will be a thrill for the Norfolk Islanders.

Just researched the distance Norfolk Island to Coolangatta, 1,410km or 876miles, got me thinking I winder if the last time a P51 flew that sort of distance was in WW II, "Seven League Boots!"
Your trivia for the day.............

So it is not visiting Lord Howe then? Sadly no Dave Norfolk to Coolangatta, yep gutted, she was going to be my plane spotting high light for sure. All good you win some you loose some, Sea Fury, 2 X Staggerwings and the recent Lockheed, have been pretty lucky over the years.

Love to see her on Aussie soil after so many years, albeit with a wee way to go! Safe flying Steve! She'll be in great hands with Doug Hamilton looking after her. Hear hear! Long may she fly!
