Does anyone have any history or photos of this aeroplane? The partially restored airframe was today delivered to the Queensland Air Museum at Caloundra. Anything will be much appreciated.

Many thanks for that information. I am advised that an AHSNZ publication shows the Connie departing Auckland on 09FEB which is highly unlikely given that the Stones had a concert in AKL on 11FEB. I suspect that the 09FEB report is in error although I can't eliminate the possibility of any local flying within NZ, although that too is unlikely.

Can anyone confirm the movements of Connie N7777G into and out of Auckland in Feb 1973? I believe arrival (from Pago Pago) was 08FEB and departure (to Brisbane) was 11FEB. Confirmation and any additional notes will be much appreciated.
Regards
Ron

To all Allan’s friends and relatives, please be advised that details of his funeral are as below : Date : Monday, November 19, 2007 Location : The *Main Crematorium, West Chapel, Rookwood Cemetery, Sydney, Australia Time : 3.30pm Funeral Service : Euro Funerals (who are kindly offering their service free of charge) * There are 2 Crematoriums at Rookwood. One is the Catholic Crematorium, the other is known as the Main Crematorium. The latter is where Allan’s funeral will take place. Please pass on these details to any known friend of Allan’s or anyone from the aviation fraternity interested in attending. Most of you will know that with the permission of Discovery Air Tours and Chief Pilot Jack Curtis, I intended to scatter Allan’s ashes from a DC3 shortly after the funeral. Regretfully the aircraft in question, VH-DNA, blew an engine in flight while on parachute dropping operations. However, Rebecca, a grand niece of Allan’s has promised to take care of his ashes until such time as VH-DNA is repaired. Kind regards and hope to see you all at the funeral. I will post a tribute to Allan on the Museum web site ( www.aamb.com.au) later today. Trevor Dean Curator Australian Aviation Museum www.aamb.com.au

It's unfortunate that my first post on this forum has to be under such sad circumstances.
I regret to advise that Australia's foremost DC-3 historian, Allan Bovelt, passed away suddenly in Sydney recently. Al had numerous correspondents worldwide and I know that many were in NZ. He will be sadly missed by those of us with a passion for the DC-3. RIP Al.

She still looks prettier than that block of flats that is replacing her.

In case anyone is wondering, there is an aviation connection. My photo was taken from Air New Zealand House.

Here she is in the same location exactly 30 years earlier in Feb 78.
