Thanks for starting this thread. The Queensland Air Museum will be pleased to hear from anyone who can add to the history of this aeroplane (see link in first post). We are particularly looking for photos of the interior. Please post here or email QAM at admin@qam.com.au

On the subject of Airtruk models, the Queensland Air Museum is currently doing one in 1:1 scale. It's the former ZK-CWX and we intend to paint it in the orange check colour scheme. Does anyone know the exact spec for the orange? Our friend "airtruk" has provided the relevant Transavia drawing but unfortunately it doesn't provide the colour spec.

The first Concorde to visit Australia was G-BSST which arrived in Sydney on 17 June 1972. That's 40 years ago this Sunday.

Thanks KB for that update. I show the transport dates as follows:
VH-BPN 25NOV09 (approx) VH-MIN 10DEC09 VH-DNA 17DEC09 VH-PWN 21JAN10 VH-DNF 24FEB10
Are you able to be more precise about VH-BPN? I think the date shown was Ralph's best estimate.
What's this I hear about a purchaser in Denmark?

On 24JUN10 VH-CWS was registered to Peter Christoudias / JNP Enterprises Pty Ltd trading as Broome Air Services in Broome, WA. As of today he is still shown as the registration holder and operator. If the aeroplane is still at Bankstown does this mean that the move to Broome is off? For more on the DC-3 Detention Centre at Molong see here: www.adastron.com/dc-3/ozcensus.htm#Note25kiwibeavers, do you have a date when DNF was moved? Rgds

To give this old thread a kick along, the Queensland Air Museum at Caloundra recently took delivery of Airtruk VH-HSB (formerly ZK-CWX) The aircraft was trucked to Caloundra in Feb and March courtesy of HARS. Do any of the learned Airtruk afficionados on this forum have images of VH-HSB in an Australian livery other than the existing green & white AND with an operator's name on the aircraft? Rgds Ron

Small correction. VH-BRD sank at its moorings in the Brisbane River (not Cairns) so the tow to the Gold Coast was over a comparitively short distance. There were two significant arrivals in Brisbane on 27 April 1950. ZK-AME was one and I was the other!

Confirming that the site quoted is mine. I have made considerable progress since posting the original question thanks to input from many people on several forums. I was planning to post an update here but AussieBob beat me to the punch. I have established that there was a posed press photo with some of the crew in front of NZ7005 but this aircraft was not used on the Tracy operation.

I am attempting to compile a list of all the aircraft used in the evacuation of Darwin in the aftermath of the cyclone. I am aware that RNZAF C-130H NZ7003 participated but details are sketchy. I would be very pleased to hear from anyone who was with 40 Sqn at the time or indeed anyone who can provide accurate notes on the RNZAF involvement.

To jog the memory, here is an image of the aeroplane in Brisbane. I am trying to establish if the Stones logo was applied in Auckland or Brisbane. It wasn't there when it left Honolulu for Pago Pago and Auckland.

When this aircraft was in NZ in Feb 1973 did it have the Rolling Stones logo on it at that time?

It seems that the signwriting on the floats was short-lived. The red part appears to read "Beware of Propellers". This image is cropped and rotated from the rear view posted previously i.e. the float is retracted. Maybe helpful to the modellers. Rgds

Dave,
Happy to share. I seem to recall that the side view involved some "creative trespass" so I'm pleased it paid off eventually.

Was this aircraft delivered as N19DF? If so I have colour shots.
