Hope to have it back by Xmas (unsure of the year as yet!). In fact the only downside of Sunday was that I "lost" my sunnies (bl00dy expensive RayBans!) whilst videoing Noel in the Pitts...was in the model tent and rushed outside...sunnies were on my hat inside...and not when I got outside. So...if anyone picked them up...I'd love them back....could be worth a taxiing sorte in MAD!!

Dropped in on the Sunday primarily to watch the air displays and (being that it was my first Cambridge Armistice Commemoration) was pleasantly surprised to find such a lot more on offer! The re-enactments were great and the selection of vehicles likewise. Noel did well in VH-PIG, it was a shame that we couldn't display ZKMAD but (as the photo shows) we weren't exactly in a position to do it!!

Yeh...pretty hard to compete on the Tasman...apparently it is cheaper for Emirates to fly an A340 empty return across the Tasman than leave it parked on the apron in Sydney...so what they gain in airfares is purely icing on the cake...no big incentive to price "competitively".

Zeal320 is the AirNZ subsiduary (I think) that operates the A320s...don't really understand what the advantage was, but it came in about 12 months before the demise of Freedom.

Yip...pick your time and conditions (and controller!) and you can keep current in less than .3 (included ample time for warm up and 4 takeoffs and landings). I did recently at HN!

My favorite WOW was indeed seeing the Hanna's in the 109 and Spitfire...a moving tribute to those that fought and died for their respective countries....still remember the "White Cliffs of Dover" playing on the PA...actually bought a tear to the eye!!

180...have to disagree...DV20 is far more comfortable than the cramped 152 and actually flies quite nicely...quicker than both Terrorhawk and Cessna. Is very light and requires more speed control than both the 152 and PA38, therefore makes it quite a good trainer...trouble is it's damned near impossible to see from even quite short range...and (probably 'cos it hails from glider stock) is relatively difficult to fly a tight circuit...doesn't mean it can't be done, just needs slightly more planning than in a Cessna or Piper...very slippery and lacks drag, could be prone to shock cooling if the pilot pulls the power to idle in order to get down, disregarding good engine handling.
I wonder about the DV20's longevity though...will it still be round in 30 or 40 years like some 152s?

Yep! Fugly is the proper term! And yet we are subjected to them beating the circuit to death in HN day in, day out, day in , day out, day in, da......you get the picture!
