What an awesome weekend.
Glad to be home for another great show, and the weather even played ball (mostly) even if there was a lot of "dont mention the war (weather)" going on.
Great to spend the weekend with and/or meet DaveHomewood, Baz62, Lumpy, Av8rsm8, Obiwan27, ErrolC, Keruru, Shorty, skyhawkdon, pjw4118, Radialicious, WayneB and the others I have forgotten.
See you all for Classic Fighters 2013

Certainly was a weekend with many highlights !
Seeing the FW190 fly on Friday was great , as was seeing the V2 do an " engine run " in the twilight show . That thing was really cool !
Saturdays display by Simon Gault was a cracker ( nice low , fast passes ) , and a low fast pass by the glider was so low it was almost a landing !
The lunch time interview on Sunday by Graham Orphan of Kermit Weeks was fascinating , a very interesting bloke . It was very funny when part way into the interview Kermit pulls a camera out of his pocket , holds it at arms lenght , and starts taking " self portrait " type photos of him and Graham , whilst carring on with the interview .
As Craig said above , it was also really great to catch up with a few people , and put a face to a name with others I'd not met previously .
Bring on 2013 ! ( I'll have no sauce on my chips next time Baz ) !! ;D

Not really sure , but I'd suspect the AHC would be a good place to ask . If they dont have them , they will know who does . You name did actually come up in the bar after the show , a couple of members had been keeping a lookout for you , with no luck .

Nice of you to think of me, I couldn't stay long afterwards anyway as I had to be at ATC HQ by 8. Great show this year.

Just arrived back from Blenheim, went to the ANZAC parade which was a moving experience, lots of people attended and good turn out of veterans too. Also nice to see people applauding as the veterans, RNZAF, Police, rein-actors, ATC cadets etc marched past. I was hoping for a fly past but this was the 10:40am parade and I was woken by a lot of Iroquois and possibly Seasprites in the wee hours for the dawn parade. Highlights from the show: The V2 hilarious ending on the Sunday, the 3 P40s ,TWO Spitfires but the WW1 dogfight was a sight to behold. There were so many planes whizzing about in all directions I was sure it was going to be brown trouser time for someone. Oh it was for me when Keith Skilling in the Corsair on Sundaydecided to be different and come in BEHIND the gold stand while I was busy looking to the right! Graham Orphan's comment " look behind you" just sunk in and I began to look when vrrroooooooooooooooooom the belly of the Corsair filled my eyeballs as it flew over. S*&^%$#!@!TT I went!! And lets not forget Al Marshall's first successful engine run with his trailer mounted Hercules!! (Done at night for security reasons...............which went out the window when Al towed it to the Aero Club and started it there too!!) All in all a great show, slightly marred by dodgy weather but didn't stop the show. Oh and temperamental aeroplanes, never known for so many aircraft to have a problem but due to all the dedicated engineers at Omaka and Woodborne they were all sorted (with the exception of the 190 but I saw it fly, that will do for now!) but thats what you get with man made things, there are no guarantees!! Now looking forward to 2013! Great to see the Forum members too and nice to meet Errol and Fockewulf. Dave Homewood is now 4 inches shorter as he must have been back and forth across that airfield 100 times at least!! I'll be posting photos on the photo thread once I have sorted them out. Teresa has good video of the V2's demise. Oh and Lumpy's comment about tomato sauce refers to me shouting him some chips..and promptly tipping ones with sauce ON him. Yes and they lay there on the step for Saturday and Sunday mocking me. ZI am now not allowed near Lumpy with food........unless its for me.

Baz set a new bench mark for klutziness... he lost his very tasty looking chocolate cake, threw hot chips on Lumpy's lap & made the lady sitting in front of us veerrry nervous while we were eating lunch...

Yeah and my replacement mud cake thingy also met near disaster as a piece of the topping fell off as I removed the paper wrapping. Not my day I'm afraid.

Already have 10 cents, it would be good to sit with people who can talk about the machines we are seeing and educate me further.

I spotted a few people with the forum name tags on, but didn't manage to make it to aero club at the end of the day unfortunately. I was going to say hi to Lumpy at one stage on Friday, but my daughter (18 months) was having too much fun leading me up and down the stairs in the gold pass stand. We were staying in Linkwater (half way round the Queen Charlotte Sound) and was bucketting down the whole time there and was amazing the way the rain cleared as we got through the Wairau Valley driving in each morning! Most excellent weekend, we will be back and I will make sure to meet forum members!

You should have said hello , as most of the folks sitting where I was were also forum members .

Yeah Lachlan you must meet us all, we have fun, make fun of each other (usually food related in my case) but we all share the passion that is aircraft old and new. What bit of the country do you come from. If its Christchurch theres a Forum meet up Friday in the old Officers Mess (now Jessies Bar and grill) at Wigram.

That would have been me. Daughter is highly energetic, but enjoyed the show - particularly the choppers and parachutists as they moved a bit slower.
I'm Auckland based these days - can only claim Christchurch by birth. Will watch out for next gathering and come along. I

Ok ... here goes. My first post is a request of sorts. I'm a photo editor for an Aviation History magazine here in the states. We're planning a short item on the P-40C and it's first flight. I noticed some great images here and thought I'd toss out a request.
If anyone is interested I'm looking forward to seeing some images of the airplane at the show. In the air would be great. Yes ... monetary compensation is part of the deal.
Thanks, you guys have some unique things flying down there, great stuff!
