Mine arrived yesterday. I applied in March but I'm still under 50 so wasn't expecting to get mine in a hurry. It looks very smart and will be worn with pride.

Apparently close to 2000 serving personnel have received their medal. All the old fuddies though.
Saw an innovation idea from an officer who suggested they give them to serving members in reverse order (i.e those who have just done their 3 years first) to boost morale. Good idea, but ignored as far as I can tell!

After I saw Les's post above I decided to make an application. In the email they sent back confirming my application it indicates "It is currently expected that it will take us at least three years to work through all applications, so your patience and forbearance in this matter will be very greatly appreciated."
No hurry.

Thanks for that ngatimozart. I must admit that although it is nice that the NZDF is showing their appreciation of the service given to Nz by people like me in this way, I would have preferred if they'd struck a medal for our Bomber Command veterans before this much lesser medal was struck.
Raymond, maybe a result of burglaries and counterfeiters? I don't trust medal dealers.

Mine turned up in the mail today-  The missus had to sign for it as I'm over here ;D...she had to show her marriage certificate to prove she was married to me!! Saw it on Skype tonite-wont actually get to see it till December!!! |

Apparently mine was going to be handed out by the boss at the last happy hour, but I was on leave so I guess it's still sitting in the office somewhere.

Jonesy, I see you applied for yours at the same time as me.
I was in the correct age group and received mine after just a few months.
You just wanted your application in the system, - it seems to have paid off for you. About 5 months or less I believe. Good going.

I received mine about 4 or 5 months after application. I didn't get an acknowledgement e-mail, but it still turned up.
