Maybe it needs a longer postponement. Might be still underwater in a week.

No...it was postponed for a week due to weather. If they have received anything like my place did on the weekend it will be off again. Such a shame as they have had rotten luck with Covid and possibly now this. Had more at my place on Saturday that the last two months together.

REALLY looking forward to my first Warbirds Downunder airshow - tickets & flights booked and meeting up with a couple of Kiwi mates in Sydney who are flying over from Chch for a long weekend. Stop offs on the way for a guided tour of HARS, a look around the museum at Nowra and a detour into Canberra on the Sunday to see the National War Memorial

Stop offs on the way for a guided tour of HARS, a look around the museum at Nowra and a detour into Canberra on the Sunday to see the National War Memorial 11sqnldr if the weather gods are kind, and the gremlins stay out of the works, Warbirds Downunder will be more than memorable. Point to note about visiting the AWM is that they are in the midst of a major works program, so a number of the exhibition areas are closed and items that were on display have been removed from the site until all the works are finished. Prime example is ANZAC Hall where G for George was is being demolished to make way for a new bigger display hall. They are also still operating under restricted numbers entry conditions, so they advise: "All visitors require a free timed ticket to enter the Memorial Galleries and attend the Last Post Ceremony. Visitors are advised to book their free ticket in advance to guarantee entry." You can do that via the AWM website.

Very sad news, Warbirds Downunder cancelled due to sodden ground - 100mm of rain in September.
2022 The Chief Executive Officer of the Temora Aviation Museum, Murray Kear, has reported that the biennial Warbirds Downunder Airshow that was to be held on 15th and 16th October this year has had to be cancelled. “The decision to cancel the event has not been taken lightly”, Mr Kear said, “however the unprecedented weather cycles have waterlogged the entire event site including car parking, aircraft parking, caravan parking and the tent city glamping sites, and has prevented them from being utilised as intended”. Mr Kear went on to say “Temora has received 101.8mm of rain in September to date, and with more heavy falls forecast prior to October 15th, and because the event site is predominantly grassed areas without any infrastructure or roads, we are unable to stage the event. Temora has received already this year 745.8mm to September, with another 4 months to go to the end of the year, the town is trending to double its annual expected rainfall. We have cancelled the show because the potential for spectators, campers, vendors and all attendees to be placed in an unsafe situation is far too high, and it would not be appropriate or safe to invite our visitors onto the site”, Mr Kear explained. All ticket holders will have the price of their tickets refunded. Mr Kear said, “We know how disappointing this is for all our intended visitors, as it is for our Temora Aviation Museum team who have worked so hard for the last two years organising the event”. We will now regroup and announce when we can next stage this event. “We know this is very disappointing news, and we thank you for your understanding and patience."

Australian International Airshow 2023 - 3 to 5 March 2023 at Avalon Airport, Geelong, Victoria.
TicketMaster Australia currently has a pre-sale of tickets for TicketMaster Australia members for this airshow up until Thursday 14 October 2022, when event tickets will then go on sale to the general public. TicketMaster Australia notes in the email advising about the pre-sale, that unlike previous years, tickets for the event will need to be pre-purchased online before the event - there will be NO ticket sales at the gate for the event.
Of note regarding this Airshow, the Australian Bureau of Meteorology gave their forward forecast for the period up until the end of March 2023 today and they are predicting a continuation of the current wetter and cooler than usual weather patterns. They noted that south-eastern Australia would continue to see greater than average rainfall and that there would potentially be a higher than average number of cyclones in the tropical regions of Australia, which would also feed into greater than usual rainfalls in south-eastern Australia.

Another cancellation due to the continuing wet weather.
Royal Australian Air Force via their FB page has just posted:
We are disappointed to announce the Ipswich Amberley Air Tattoo scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled due to recent heavy rainfalls in South East Queensland. ☹️ We understand people will be disappointed, we are too, but safety is paramount to us. Unfortunately, the grassed areas for car parking at RAAF Base Amberley and the viewing hubs in Ipswich are waterlogged. The conditions at these sites are not safe for parking or spectator attendance. Even if it doesn’t rain in the coming days and we have sunny conditions, the grassed areas will not dry out in time for the Air Tattoo. All Ipswich Amberley Air Tattoo ticket holders will have their tickets refunded in full. Please note that refunds will occur automatically by the Civic Centre Box office. Due to the large volume of transactions that are required to be processed, this may take up to 30 days.
So another one bites the mud.
Shellharbour Airport, home of HARs and where Wings Over Illawarra 2022 in a few weeks time has also been getting significant rainfall, over 60mm for the 24hrs yesterday, 15mm today with more on the way. They may have to resort to similar arrangements as last year where heavy rain in the days in the lead up to the show required them to use off-site parking and shuttle buses to get people to and from the venue, and restrict areas on the grassed areas where the public would have access.

Yep, Amberley fell over today. So disappointing for everyone involved in the planning but, like Temora's Warbirds Downunder, it was the correct decision. The place is a bog and it is just not safe for anyone. Please, please can we have good weather from now to Wings over the Illawarra.....

In May 1996 we took Orion NZ4205 to Amberley for a big airshow. Owing to the heavy rain, we first went to Brisbane International the transitted to Amberley. It continued heavy raining and the airshow was cancelled. After two nights in Ipswich we managed to get airborne from Amberley for Whenuapai. Interestingly enough on the return trip there were 23 of us on the Orion, with those who didn't have a seat sitting on the floor with their backs against a bulkhead for take-off and the landing. Another exciting adventure!

Not over, but down the highway. Will be at the airshow on Saturday.
At this stage the weather forecast is a bit worrying around the chances of rain, and is almost the same for the WOI May 2019 Airshow.
I believe Gavin has 'jumped the ditch' as he was doing air to air with the FW-190 a couple of days ago.
As I type this the 100 Squadron RAAF aircraft at Temora are being pushed back out onto the apron at Temora ready to head to Shellharbour. The RAAFM Mustang flew in to Temora yesterday. From the weather radar looks like they have a reasonably clear run across for the next few hours, but by late to mid morning there are some active rain cells moving up from the south west and down from the north west that they will have to dodge around.
