Its the last 20km west from the escarpment that causes the drama for VFR. Im hoping for clear, blue and 22 but it's an Oz airshow. No matter what, the line-up is fantastic. Heard that 'Kevin' was over. Have not seen him for a while - thanks Covid - and looking fwd to catching up. The F.35 last time completely stopped traffic on the Albion Park Bypass while they watched......5km tailback from that !!! Bring it on !

Lately..................since last year. My normal rainfall 900 - 1000mm.......so far this year 2816mm The east coast is going to yo-yo harder from deluge to drought and bush fire. Getting more extreme as climate change marches along. Sadly this is just a taster of what is too come. Have a read of "Sunburnt Country" by Joëlle Gergis. She is a climate scientist and looks back at the history of Australian climate and then has a little look at the future. It’s both horrifying and captivating.

Great to hear your dulcet tones today Ando (unfortunately the southern most commentary speaker was dropping in and out so moved up near the P3). What a fab day topped off with that truly staggering F35 display ....

A quick selection from the 'raw' shots from Saturday's F-35 display. F35 Arriving by Colin Ford, on Flickr F35 Pull by Colin Ford, on Flickr F35 Pull 2 by Colin Ford, on Flickr F35 Escarpment by Colin Ford, on Flickr F35 Black Jet by Colin Ford, on Flickr F35 Down n Dirty by Colin Ford, on Flickr F35 Top Pass by Colin Ford, on Flickr F35 Top Pass 2 by Colin Ford, on Flickr F35 Bang by Colin Ford, on Flickr Certainly an impressive display. I too heard the dulcet tones of Ando spreading the good gospel of Australian aviation history and warbirds in general, plus saw Gavin from atop the gold stand as he plied his trade on the airside of the crowd control barriers (the fence). Arrived home after a good weekend away, which included WOI2022 Saturday, to try and download my photos from my camera. Soon discovered something was wrong and what was usually a click and connect, click and download of photos was not happening. A quick online search revealed that the latest Mac OS Update (Ventura) has 'broken' the Canon EOS Utility linkage, so it no longer works. Had to resort to a much, much more cumbersome and slower, lots of faffing about and swearing alternative to get the photos onto my computer. Hope Canon issue an update to their Utility soon to fix this issue. More to follow.

Great shots Col! Glad you could recover them from the glitch. Whilst the Hornet probably outdoes it for the bat turns the F35 tops it for sheer noise and power. Also Hornets based themselves at Illawarra airport for the display whereas the F35 deploys from Williamtown(which speaks to the endurance of these new birds) One of the better vids below from YouTube. Note at around 6 mins in with the slow pass the engine made this crazy howling sound a few times which had me for a sec wondering if it was OK.

Next part. You will note the lack of the aerobatic 'stunt' flying segments in my photo coverage. I pick the timing for my refreshment and comfort breaks based on the flying program so I do not miss the warbirds doing their flying. The changing light and varying cloud layers made photography a bit trickier as the day progressed, especially later in the day when the primary sunlight was well and truly hidden behind the building clouds to the west. A couple of photos of one of the definite crowd pleasers from WOI 2022, HARS own Super Constellation 'Connie'. Made some lovely photo passes along the crowd line, just the right angle of bank to give the photographers a good view of 'Connie's' lines. The clouds that were already building out over the escarpment to the west, also provided a suitable backdrop and added that something extra to the shot. Enjoy. Lovely set of photos Colin. I was there Saturday but my keepers aren't good as yours.
Typical for WoI the weather was pretty crappy for photography on the day (after the nice start to the morning,) despite 3 weeks of excellent weather prior to it. They just can get a break. That said the displays were excellent and everything on the program bar the C-47 flew.
I enjoyed seeing the tracker and, AP-3C and Connie fly. It's been a long time since I'd seen any of those in the air. The Spitfire IX and Fw-190 , along with the F-35 were the highlights for displays for me.

I certainly enjoyed it. Col, those two Connie pics are the bee's knees. .....and speaking about the bee's knees, I saw an article that was on the Telstra News site written by a correspondent for a Chinese Bureau that had as its heading pic a shot in close up of Paul Bennet's Wolf Pitts in knife edge low level pass but, in the middle ground was a rear view of the lovely Gav C taking a pic wearing his best pair of shorts

Ando, I am concerned that you know which are "his best pair of shorts" But this now helps generate my concepts for my "fun" Classic Fighters 2023 Commemorative (Limited Edition) T-shirt.................... Fantastic photos Col, thank you so much for sharing!
I've seen several videos of the F-35 display. Amazing, but I'd love to see it in person!
