I couldn't find it either ( I was going to post a link). Can't hurt to email them. I have the set, so it was definitely produced.

Hawkeye decals made a set in 1/48, also there was a conversion set, although I have it in my stash somewhere I can't recall who made it, I'm assuming it was Kiwi Resins.

Oh dear Phil............no pressure then! I really want to get all the details right on this one, it is suprising how much differences there actually are to do a Kahu Mod bird, and even differences if it was an ex Aussie one. Cheers Anthony Have you got a copy of my CD of images I took while still a photographer at Ohakea? I can't remember if I've sent you one or not. It's got a few scans of the IPB pages for the Kahu instrument panel, side consoles and HUD.

There's already a thread on that site with a link to this one, I suspect the build will be followed with great interest.

Having a longer focal length lens wouldn't really have been practical, because the aircraft axis wasn't necessarily pointing at the target, often for air to air it would have been in front of the target, ,so if the camera had a telephoto focal length lens you would have been more likely to only see the sky in front of the target aircraft.

There's the political aspect to consider. It would be unacceptable for the RNZAF to return one to flight right now.
For a few years in the early 2000s you weren't even allowed to mention 'Skyhawk'. There were two of us in that remustered from armament to photographer in '01 as part of project reshape and the air force news wanted a little article about us. We had our photo taken with an A4 in the background and a lot of photo gear in the foreground to illustrate the change of trade. Initially the air force news editor said he wasn't allowed to publish the photo because it had a skyhawk in it! This would have been in '02. They did eventually publish it after a certain amount of heated discussion.
In light of that ridiculous policy we made every effort to sneak in references to Skyhawks and Macchis.
There is an air force news cover photo that apart from the main image had a small macchi flying overhead at the time, and my personal favourite, an aerial view of Ohakea that was used as the background to a montaged image showing various trades at work. Initially this was used on the Ohakea intranet home page, but it was also blown up to a massive banner to advertise the Ohakea Open day and put out by SH1. The funny part was that there was an A4 on the AMS flightline when the aerial photo was taken. Now this wasn't visible on the little graphic used on the web, but was pretty big when the whole thing was blown up for the banner.
I doubt returning one to flying status would be accepted by the powers that be as it does appear to be flying in the face of govt policy. In this time of fiscal pruning it would also bring rather unwanted press on the historic flight.

I wonder when we will get them? I'm not overly inspired by the ribbon design. I'd figured it would be the three service colours along the lines of the 39-45 star (much as the OSM is inspired by the NZ war service medal). Hopefully it's just the photography and my screen and it looks a bit nicer in person.
By coincidence I qualify for my LSGCM on Saturday. Who'd have thought it!

Except the E models weren't purchased, they are leased.

I thought that lowering a dodgy improvised stretcher down a cliff was a bit shady actually, since even NATO stretchers aren't suitable for rescue from heights (and haven't been considered so for at least 20 years - it's not just modern PCness).
There are tennis courts at WB, they are across the road from the CRTS parade ground, next to what was the clothing store when I was there but which is now Avionics I think.

Chip sensors in the gear boxes detect chips of metal. Obviously it's a bad sign of your gears are losing bits and pieces. Not sure how the Huey works, but the sprite has the ability to burn off the chips if they are under a certain size, but if the warning light persists it's land ASAP and shut down.

I think Dave Lochead sold all the molds to another firm (quite possibly the black robin resinz you have found).
Note that if it's mainly for the instrument panel and HUD that you want the set, the TA-4K front IP is essentially the same as the single seat. Probably an expensive way to get the parts though.

I fail to see how now having to lease buildings in the CBD vs using existing buildings at Trentham or Messines is a saving. And lets face it, Trentham is hardlt far from the centre of Upper Hutt anyway. Actually nowhere in Upper Hutt is far form the CBD, except perhaps Whitemans Valley. Come to think of it there is an old Stores depot or something over there they could use!

You mean they couldn't find any space for them in Trentham and had to lease a building in Upper Hutt CBD?
WTF? They are employing the same number of people (if the article is to be believed), so no saving there, yet now instead of occupying defence buildings that are already bought and paid for, they are now having to lease civilian buildings in town?
Good to see the process saving money.

I know what you mean about the Gang members. I grew up in a neighbourhood that had a large gang presence (Mongrel Mob) in Stokes Valley in the '80s. But although I was always rather intimidated by them we never had any troubles, and they would nearly always give up their seat on the bus for my Mum!

I'm not convinced Macchi counts as it's just a simplification of Aermacchi, although to back up it's 'officialness' MAC was the aircraft's proper abbreviation (just as IRO, SEA, ORI are), rather than AER which it would have been if it was derived from Aermacchi.
