And an M-4 in .308, we had them ages ago it's called a AR-10, flat topping it makes the sights more accurate but it's a semi auto so thank god no one said sniper (like yanks) it is correctly a sharpshooters weapon,at least the U.S terms is anyone with optics being a sniper. It's not an M4 in .308, it's an H&K 417. The 7.62x51 version of the M4 is the SR25, also known as the Mk11 Mod 0 in NZ service.

You assume correctly. I think last year marked his 50th year in the RNZAF.

There you go, I knew I'd seen a 3800 somewhere. I pay far less attention to tail number than some do, except when I'm loading something onto them or doing a daily.

The Huey is an attrition airframe that has lived at Ground Training Wing for many years. I guess now the fleet is being retired it is no longer needed, and with the purchase of the SH-2Fs and MU-2s for GTW the old aircraft have been parked up outside. As for it's official number I'm not sure. I seem to recall it might have had 3800 painted on it, but I doubt that was an official number.
The Herc, assuming it was one of ours, is probably a LEP conversion aircraft that Safe Air is working on.

The Tan dust coats are still issued. I have one or two floating around somewhere.
They are more popular at Ohakea where you can't wear 'blues and blacks' (blue T shirt and black shorts) on base roads, but you can if you put a dust coat over the top! So in summer people popping into the canteen often wear them.
They also seem quite popular with avionics.

Given that Revell kit instructions usually give stupid mixing ratios rather than correct FS or BS or whatever colour designations, you are usually better off sourcing alternatives anyway.

Maybe it the little things like: "Labour defence spokesman Iain Lees-Galloway said morale would have dropped even further after Defence Minister Jonathan Coleman's recent comment that people in defence needed to drop the attitude that it was a job for life." I'd like to see him try telling the families of Andy Forster, Tim O'Donnel, Doug Grant, and all the others that have been killed while serving that the Defence force isn't a job for life. It was for them, they gave their lives in service. There's a reason people stay in for 20+ years. Loyalty. A trait that is quite highly thought of in the military, but not it seems in the offices of ministers of the crown.

Why do we need a third frigate? The two we have do bugger all. Just like the Skyhawks did bugger all. So say those that are ignorant of what they actually did.

Presumably there's been two RNZAF badges (technically they are badges, not crests).
One with the King's Crown and one with the Queen's Crown.

What was the last RAF aeroplane to attend a New Zealand aishow? Was it the Harrier in 1992? Do they ahve any Lear jet type VIP transports? ...like this? I wonder who the Harrier was being flown by? FLTLT (as he was at the time) Dave Morgan flew a SHAR behind three Skayhawk once. I seem to recall he shot two of them down.

The USAF are bringing a C17, according to the press release. The Singaporeans are bringing a KC-130 as are the USMC I think. So far the RAF haven't confirmed what they will have there.

It was just last night that I posted a suggestion on the RNZAF innovation page at work to make the primary means of distributing the three magazines via PDF, and reduce the numbers of printed copies.
The Navy is even worse with only three copies from 2011 available electronically.
Basically DCG just need to make the production of the PDF and the uploading it to the website priority and do it every month, instead of just a random occurance.

I got two sets as well. Now I've got markings for a retirement scheme aircraft, the Euro 1 model and a Euro 1 T Bird.
What are the chances of ever getting that many 1/32 Skyhawks built?

wouldn't need that many bombs per sortie though, not with the GBU-16 kit. Rather than dropping 6 bombs in a stick to try and hit your target, the one LGB would do the same job.
Unless you were after massed troops in the open.
The same applies to Maritime strike, no need to overfly your ship dropping a MER load to straddle it when you can fire a couple of Mavericks, which lets face it only have a slightly better chance of hitting the target, but better a Maverick shot down by CIWS than an A4!

Something about not showing your dirty palms to an officer or some nonsense.
I always make a special effort to salute properly when coming on board, just to show the navy how it's supposed to be done.
As for Loo vs left.... well I thought it was left, but who knows with the navy.
