'Armoured fighting vehicles of New Zealand 1939-59' by Jeffrey Plowman and Malcolm Thomas has 1/35 scale plans and quite a few photos of the Semple tank.

He's just listed two more, one set remaining, and he's listed them on his website.

bugger, none left on that listing. I prefer that scheme to the final scheme, for which I've got the Hawkeye decals.

spent the week learning enough stuff so that when I go on work experience to bases during university breaks I don't look like an idiot I wouldn't make that assumption just yet if I was you. Last year we had a young girl on her break working at 6 SQN, she was given the job of reading all the citations at a medal presentation for a bunch of long gongs. The problem was she had no idea what all the abbreviation meant (which needed to be read out in full, ie WEF 'With Effect') and the more flustered she got the less able she was to read normal english words either. We all felt rather sorry for her.

I doubt we ever had the capability to scramble jets for that sort of thing, we didn't have a QRA, in fact it would have taken quite some time to get an armed aircraft in the air, as the weapons would have had to be built up and brought up to the flightline.

Thanks, I thought of customs / immigration right after I posted, but then I would have thunk that the air force, being agents of the government would be able to perform customs and immigration services on their own. Nope. IRD is a govt department too, I don't think they can clear people through customs any more than the air force can. Might depend on how much weight it's carrying. Pretty sure they come straght in, Ohakea get MAF and customs in all the time to process flights.

If you are using Humbrol, how about adding a bit of 93 desert yellow to it? That should bring it closer to the field air yellow and make it cover better.
You'll need to be careful if you decide to add grey, depending on the grey it might give the yellow a greenish tinge.

. I think it is a standing joke among the Admin Section to confuse the real workers. We don't have admin sections anymore - it's all done out of Upper Hutt.

At one point this year my leave ballance was showing at 70 days, including long leave!
As noted above, we know get 25 days AL per year, armed forces are now a thing of the past. In theory so too are half day stand downs before long weekends.

We used to get $5 extra a day adverse working conditions when we used them.
Ah those were the days, when they knew something was bad for you, but instead of fixing it they just paid you a bit more.

We used to use the GTCs to start the A4s, basically C-130 GTCs built in to a small trolley with a hose to hook up to the aircraft. They could be used to start an F-111 as well, but that took a lot of effort on the part of the little GTC and you had to watch the temps!
