I have started my B(I)12 and will post soon, but some warnings for the unwary, i.e. me.
Firstly do not follow the instructions and attach the cockpit surround to the interior then fit the while unit to the fuselage halves before assembly. Instead use the nose gear door to position the interior into one half then once dry assemble the two halves. Once dry then attach the cockpit insert. It will save a lot of sanding.
The bomb bay doors are designed to be left open. If you want to close them remove the hinges and be prepared to do a lot of scraping and sanding.
On the positive the interior fits perfectly and the two fuselage halves need no filling and just a swift pass with a sanding stick.
All that sanding means this one isn't going to be overall aluminium!!!

Run away Dave, it isn't worth it. I have their Oxford and it is unbuildable by my standars, the wings are different sizes and have no way of attaching the mismatched nacelles. Thats as far as my bravery went.

I had hoped to go as the Dams are only about 10 miles from my home, but had to take my 8 year old daughter to hospital.
I was suprised how much coverage the event got. I guess our politicians are trying to get more publicity for the Armed Forces( rather than providing them with the right kit or indeed not getting them involved in wars).

Don't know if you guys saw any converage but the RAF flew Les Munroe, the last surviving Dams raid pilot back from NZ to the UK where he was guest of honour at the flypast to commemorate the 65th annivesary of the raid.
The BBMF Lancaster did three passes over Ladybower dam in Derbyshire, whichwas used as a training target in the run up to the riads. She later teamed up with a couple of 617 Squadron Tornados and the Memorial flights Dakaota. Finally a Spit and Hurricane flew past.
Lest we forget

Not strictly speaking on topic, I've just visited this subject ( from a UK perspective ) in the May issue of Model Aircraft Monthly.

Nice work, looking forward to more progress shots.
I built the Eduard re-box of the old Mauve kit as the Wildcat but this is much better starting point.

Given the general fit issues of CAs kits, I won't be holding my breath for one. Hasegawa will bring one out eventally.

Thanks guys for all your replies, I thought I was on the right track. As TBF2504 says it is hard to see the fern no matter what colour especially on black and white photos.
I'll be starting my model some time soon.

I just returned for my local model club at the Doncaster Aircraft Museum with an Airfix 1/48th Canberra and the Model Alliance decals sheet for RNZAF Canberras.
Reading the color schemes has me confused. I thought the B (I)12 were delivered in overall High Speed silver with Standard RAF roundels, then the White Ferns were applied in NZ. These were replaced by Silver Ferns as the aircraft were serviced . By late 1964 all were repainted in Dark Sea Grey/ Dark green but kept the Silver underside and the Ferns were silver by this time.
Airfix supply white ferns for their camouflaged option, Model Alliance supply only silver ferns and yet have both an overall Silver aircraft and one they suggest is Dark Green/Dark Sea Grey/Light Aircraft Grey.
Also did the RNZAF aircraft actually use the belly gun pack? I can't find a photo of one fitted.
Help!

kiwichappers, IIRC the colour is NIVO, the same dark green as used on Interwar night bombers. It was often used on the upper decking of other types and was also used on the fuselage panels of the A.W. Siskin.
I believe it is available from xtracrylics in model form.

Some did have the /G some didn't, for example Mk XVIII MM466 didn't, neither did Mk XXX NT370 or NT263.
Fighter Squadrons of the RAF doesn't show the suffix in the $** list but it was a transient label and probably wasn't recorded

Thanks for the kind comments.
Jon Freeman, the designer of the decals used the official plans for the decal, so missed the extra section of white on the up-wards swoop. I guess you guys will already know that.

As promised a progress photo of the Anson. It has taken about a year to get so far. Nothing much actually fits and each piece is a mini triumph. Loads of filler was needed to get the turret insert into some sort of shape. Still, it looks like an Anson to me. I have both tail-planes and one wing complete as well. The next challenge it the fit of the glasshouse to the plastic between it and the turret. I have not actually seen a complete one in the UK other than one built by a semi-professional modeller for a magazine

So far I have failed to find any nose art on aircraft serialled above NZ413, so I wonder if the first batch to arrive were given nose art by someone inspired by Fantasia, which would have been released in NZ in 1942/43 and the later aircraft were left unadorned?
We have definitely got:
NZ403 Ferdinand the Bull NZ404 Donkey NZ406 Bull? NZ412 Micky Mouse, the Sorcerers Apprentice NZ413 Dumbo
I wonder if this ought to be a spearate thread

NZ404 had donkeys head face on with ears at eight o'clock and four o'clock, NZ412 had a Mickey Mouse in a long gown with an axe and NZ413 had a flying Dumbo, the latter two were from Fantasia which had come out around that time. So if NZ403 had nose art as well I'd love to see it.
Cheers Kiwichappers thanks for getting me on here
