Cost me about $100 for SEVEN days entry at Oshkosh '13!! Now THAT was $$$$ well spent!

Really?! Only an extra $3-400! I find that hard to believe....airfares alone would account for twice that?? And it's probably cheaper to fly in from YMML than it is to fly down from NZAA!!
Oh well... up until 2010 I'd only missed 2 WOWs ('98 & '00 when each of my kids were born) but I haven't been back... no huge draw cards that I really want to see.

'Cos they get lots of A320s in and out of Cromwell Racecourse! I landed there once back in '85, well truth is I landed twice... it was a good bounce!

I see the Bücker Jungmann was on TV ONE News... seems to have had an engine failure after takeoff on RWY21 and ended up through the end fence... bugger!

Was talking to a colleague only yesterday about the United 747 in WN. He was in the tower for the departure... it apparently had most of the passengers aboard that it had landed with (only loosing a few that WN bound anyway). He said that it lined up at the end of the RWY, the crew "fed it the fat" and it rotated only about halfway down and climbed "like a homesick angel"... obviously it had a light fuel load but that would still have been a cool sight to see... I just love the 747!

I remember a few years back when that wrecked Mooney sat on the side of the runway for ages... was always a "talking point" for passengers when taxiing past it!!

Up until recently the 747 -400 and -SP were my favorite looking (large) aircraft... Since China Southern's 787 has been coming to Auckland, and now the 787-9 (which seems more in proportion than the smaller 787) I'm having to reconsider... they really are a graceful looking aircraft, particularly in the flare and rotate when those wings flex upwards at an initially alarming rate! The Airbus products just don't have the asthetics with the A380 being down right ugly!

Did you get a photo of it's touchdown?? Apparently they just drove it on, nose wheel first... very little finesse displayed!!

Very cool... Tell you what... I'd prefer to take the Beaver from Downtown to GB than all of the hassles with a TriLander/Islander from AA!! Are they publishing $$$ yet?? Wonder if they've considered a schedule... Downtown -NorthShore (Takapuna?)- GB maybe once or twice a day?? Or even just Monday and Friday.
